Files Motion to Dismiss
In the summer of 2024, Isaac Santiago placed a message on the door of a church in Dover, New Hampshire.
Police have accused a New Hampshire Bible-believing Christian of posting “criminally threatening, coercive and hateful” messages on the door of a LGBTQ-affirming church in Dover, NH, but it is abundantly clear that the message he posted was based in Biblical Truth and love. Now the Gospel message itself is on trial in New Hampshire District Court and the man is facing criminal charges and legal fees he simply cannot afford.
The New Hampshire AG’s office is always looking for a way to make any expression a violation of civil rights law, despite the courts telling them to stop. Hate speech laws generally fall into that category, a presumption of additional guilt irrelevant to the context of any crime, created as a way to pile on charges while conditioning the general public to self-censor. As regards Mr. Santiago’s speech,
Mr. Santiago explained that God Himself directed him to tape the sign using Biblical language calling for repentance on the door of the church, which is a LGBTQ-affirming church. The sign, which is pictured above, read, “Jesus is coming soon! The devil deceived you! God will never except (sic) ‘LGBTQ.’ Be saved today or you will perish in your sins! Repent and believe!” This message is a paraphrase of John 8:24, Luke 13:3, and can also be backed up in Romans 1:16-32, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, and various Old Testament Scriptures such as Leviticus 20:13 and Deuteronomy 22:5.
He didn’t paint a swastika on the door or set the Teslas in the parking lot on fire. He followed scripture and attempted to warn fellow Christians that they’d strayed from the path. Selling that as criminal threatening or hate speech seems like a stretch, and I think it is. A judge who dares to cover this ground sets a dangerous anti-religious precedent ripe for appeal.
That thinking informs Mr. Santiago, and his legal counsel agrees. This is a message to a friend of the Grok forwarded to me at Mr. Santiago’s request.
We didn’t take the plea bargain and we are filling a motion to dismiss for May 15 2025 and the prosecution must respond within a month after the motion to dismiss. If the prosecution doesn’t agree then it will go to trial. God is with me. I put all my trust in the Lord. He will not fail me. To God be all the glory.
We await the day and the prosecution’s response. Stay tuned.
