Press Release: ACTA Classical Schools Foundation Names Holy Family Academy as its second “Model School”

Goal to expand Classical education opportunity continues

ACTA Classical Schools Foundation, a private charitable organization established early this year to encourage new schools offering classical education, has designated Holy Family Academy, a private academy located in Manchester, New Hampshire, as its second “Model School.” The Foundation determined that Holy Family Academy demonstrates how private schools can offer a powerful example to new and early-stage classical schools. As part of its “Model School” designation, ACTA awarded Holy Family Academy an unrestricted grant in recognition of its commitment, expertise, and support to emerging classical schools.

The mission of ACTA Classical Schools Foundation is to encourage and support the growth of classical education by providing financial assistance and mentoring to new and early-stage public and private classical schools as the best hope to improve American education.

In announcing ACTA’s second “Model School” selection and grant, Board Chair Kim Lavallee noted that Holy Family Academy brings a new dimension to helping new and early-stage classical schools.

“ACTA previously designated Lionheart Classical Academy – a chartered public school in Peterborough, New Hampshire – as its first Model School,” observed Lavallee. “Now ACTA is recognizing a private academy as its second Model School to help ensure that new classical schools – whether charter or private — find needed resources, support and encouragement as they work through the founding and early-stage process.”

ACTA’s other current initiative is sponsoring promising new classical schools recently established or still in their early stages of operation. As ACTA identifies suitable Sponsorship classical schools, it provides financial support to selected schools through matching or challenge grants.

Lavallee noted that the object of ACTA’s Sponsorship initiative is to “help new schools offering classical education develop their fund-raising skills by way of a concrete financial incentive.”

ACTA anticipates announcing its next Sponsorship classical school in early July.
