Three days ago, we shared a report regarding a woman who was refused a kidney transplant by Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) because she did not meet their immunization requirements. No COVID jab, specifically.
Shannon, the patient, did not want to but buckled and got one shot, but that was not enough. They wanted her to get the most recent booster, but none of that is legal in the State of New Hampshire. It is against the law to require any vaccination as a condition of medical care or treatment.
Section 151:21
XXII. The patient shall not be denied admission, care, or services based solely on the patient’s vaccination status.
We and many others asked you to reach out to political leaders in the state, and the Speaker of the NH House has responded. In a letter dated Jan. 10th, 2025, Speaker Sherman Packard tells DH that, given what we know, they must comply with the law.
Adhering to the patient bill of rights falls under licensing, so the only recourse I can see is that the state could deny the facility its right to practice until it complies.
I’m not convinced they’d do that. DHMC is YUGE, and the Health Care Lobby spends a lot of money – mostly on State Senators campaigns – to do whatever they please. But many of those senators had to vote for the bill for it to pass and become law, so again, what happens next?
We’ve got a letter from the General Court to DHMC.
Will they change their policy by Monday, waste some time to see what happens, or tell the State to F-Off?
