MACDONALD: Dem Mayor Blames Progressive Values

I’m not sure this is good politics in a city that’s 137.5 percent Democrat voters, but if he’s being honest, you have to respect that.

I mean, we got so entrapped in our progressive values and talking about progressivism that we weren’t taking stock of what was happening on our streets. We had 810 people die of overdose in San Francisco three years ago. There’s nothing progressive about that.

There’s nothing progressive about 30,000 car break ins. Everyone had to deal with whether or not their car was going to be broken into. That number, by the way, has dropped by 90 percent. And instead of talking about ideological issues and instead of talking about like all the dysfunction, like, we are focused.

San Francisco mayor Daniel Lurie is, at least by this standard, a political aberration. Law and order as a litmus test for good governance isn’t a leg on the Democratic Party stool.

Drug overdoses, crime, and homelessness are part and parcel of the necessary chaos Democrats create to get “the Middle Class” to give up all its freedoms in exchange for a promise of safety.

Crime drives out businesses, and the next thing you know, the Commies are suggesting socialist grocery stores that cost 30 million to build and millions more, all of it from someone else, to prop them up. Failure, however, is inevitable.

And while big government lefties like to blame big corporations for tricking people to get wealthy, what they do in office is use government to frisk them to make government rich. Everything is a jobs program that puts layers of responsibility between them and the problem that only ever gets worse.

Lurie has used local law enforcement, in partnership with the FBI, DEA, ATF, and others, to prevent a military-like surge onto the Streets of San Francisco (Karl Malden, Michael Douglas – 72 to 77: I used to watch that show). A different time.

If the crime reduction is real and lasting, that will help some, but the progressive industrial complex is alive and well in Pelosiville. Helping the Homeless is a growing business, and until the mayor comes up with a plan for that and the rest of his party’s progressive ‘values,’ it’s all deck chairs on the Titanic.
