I don’t think we’re likely to escape accusations of political targeting as the default response to any investigation of anyone “on the other side.” We can note that Obama really got this ball rolling when he began targeting businesses in his first term, and his IRS went into Hitler mode to stop Tea Party groups from organizing, which was obvious election interference.
Hillary and her illegal server, all the private emails they used to protect conversations from FOIA requests. Dirty bunch.
Crossfire hurricane and everything surrounding it was simply an assumption by that culture that using the Executive Branch to punish political opponents was just what you did now. No one with any actual power was concerned about spying on a presidential campaign and then ginning up fake accusations to discredit it and everyone around it. Erecting investigations, prosecutions, and fake impeachments.
And the media helped.
We can rinse, lather, and repeat with Biden, COVID, J6, and more.
Obama spied on the press, members of Congress, and our allies and got caught, but suffered little for it. Biden incarcerated grandmas who were at or near the US Capitol just for being there to support Trump, and has all the COVID response tyranny to answer for as well. Censorship. Debanking. FBI harassment. Arctic Frost.
And investigating those injustices looks like political targeting by Trump and his team because it can’t look like anything else to people who created the culture. And on it goes, with the media continuing to serve its progressive masters and their narratives even when previous Administrations were just plain old breaking the law.
But Trump has nothing to lose, not really, and he has tasked his team with cleaning the rot that started under Obama out of the Executive Branch. Trimming fat, dead weight, and FBI agents who may have just been following orders but…
The FBI has dismissed 10 agents and analysts involved in former special counsel Jack Smith’s classified documents prosecution of President Trump, a spokesperson for the bureau confirmed Thursday.
On Wednesday, it was revealed that the Biden DOJ sent subpoenas to Kash Patel, who now serves as FBI director, and Susie Wiles, now Trump’s White House chief of staff, in 2022 and 2023 as the Republican’s campaign was ramping up.
Jack Smith has problems of his own, and I know Patel has been weeding, as have all the agencies under Trump. We know it’s working because of the lack of leaks this term. Few to none. From major military operations to new programs to planned actions. The press isn’t getting anything good that matters while the weeding continues.
And as I said, it can’t appear as anything but political targeting, and so they’d best up their game. If Republicans fail to carry the midterms, the Democrats have made it clear they will investigate everyone, not just those in government. Private persons, corporations, federal agents, and anyone who dared to ignore them and follow the law or bend to the new sheriff will be under a microscope.
To Trump’s credit, as far as I can tell, he is only going after people connected to fraud, crime, and acts of injustice.
Democrats don’t work that way. They make examples to show the rest of us how to behave.
Or else.
