OLSON: Charlie Kirk Was Not a Nice Guy

Nice guys avoid conflict like the plague and will go to great lengths to avoid upsetting anyone.” -Robert A. Glover

Charlie Kirk was not a nice guy. Consciously or unconsciously, the nice guy conducts himself in every aspect of his life to gain approval and avoid disapproval at all costs. The nice guy hides his own humanity in a quest to project an image of self-perfection. This makes the nice guy uninteresting, vague, slippery, and languid. The nice guy exclusively focuses on pleasing others to his own detriment. Being a nice guy means being agreeable and malleable, not “rocking the boat.” Nice guys never have to tell you they are nice. A nice guy is a pushover.

What Charlie Kirk was, was a good guy. Good guys always stand for what is right, honorable, and just, even when doing so is difficult or seemingly impossible. Charlie was a good man with strong personal convictions and a solid moral foundation. Charlie stood grounded in the courage of his convictions, lived by personal example, and never shied away from caustic opinions. Charlie had a backbone. Charlie Kirk was an honorable, God-fearing man. I felt sheer rage for days over Charlie’s assassination. It was visceral. It was real. I was deeply affected – deeply saddened.

The Kool-Aid slurping progressives called Charlie a “Fascist.” They are bankrupt in their messaging. They do not know what an actual fascist is, and the word is merely a slur in their repertoire of performative language. Charlie was a man who put himself out in front of an often-hostile crowd, gave them a platform to speak, launching their vile, caustic views while quietly listening as they spoke. Charlie Kirk gave them a platform, something a textbook fascist simply does not do.

Charlie Kirk was a family man, married with two young children. The single most important thing in Charlie’s life was his relationship with Jesus Christ, his salvation, and his wife and children, which he often acknowledged as a gift from God and a blessing.

Charlie Kirk was pointed and direct and stood grounded in his convictions. For as long as I can recall, we watched pathological liars, prevaricators of performative language, and charlatans of off stripes take Charlie’s spoken words ubiquitously out of context countless times, yet absolutely refusing to be held accountable, even after they are called out for being completely wrong. They are all liars.

Left-wing violence is not going away. The responsibility for this era of violence rests squarely with the leftist-progressive kakistocracy. When the left makes their virulent statements of violence, they cannot deny that many of their sheep-like followers are mentally fragile, and it only takes one to take matters to the next level, as evidenced by Bernie Sanders supporter James Hodgkinson who shot congressional Republicans on a ball field in 2017. Or when Matthew Crooks attempted to assassinate President Trump in Butler Pennsylvania last year. Today, Ryan Routh another would be assassin, is currently on trial. There are countless examples of Democratic violence going back to the early 1800’s. There was no ANTIFA then, but there was the Ku Klux Klan.

Those making vile public statements celebrating the death of Charlie Kirk have found themselves on the receiving end of losing their jobs, decrying an alleged usurpation of their “free speech rights.” Such declarations underscore the utter lacking in our government education system where these idiots do not understand the basic tenets of the first amendment or how free speech works. While they may have lost their employment because a business owner does not want his or her brand reflected in such fashion, nobody came for them with handcuffs, jail cells, or oppression for speaking their vile celebratory rhetoric.

Yet, in lizard-brained fashion, some of these bipeds are still taking to social media to call for a civil war. Again, the government education fails society. The war would be a sectarian war, not a civil war. No war of any fashion will solve the divisive ideology in our nation. Ask any veteran who served during the Global War on Terror. I absolutely loathed President Obama. Did not like him as my President. He frankly sucked and got the ball rolling for the national downfall we are currently experiencing. On the other hand, I prayed for his safety and security at the same time. Genuinely. The last thing this nation needed was to have Obama as some kind of martyr for the leftists.

Yesterday, while at Church, I saw several new families walk through the front door. I realized that I was bearing witness in real time, the tangible awakening taking place right in front of me. Charlie Kirk, WE ARE ALL CHARLIE KIRK.

I am part of our armed Church Security Team and have regular members approaching me and thanking me for what I do, looking to feel safe while they come to worship Jesus Christ and fellowship with fellow followers of Christ.

Charlie Kirk was an icon. A man of great conviction and courage. No other contemporary cultural icon moved the needle of America like Charlie did. They assassinated Charlie because he was dangerous to them, because he was so effective. As Charlie Kirk’s memorial service drew to a close yesterday, I thought to myself that I do not believe we have yet fully scratched the surface of the awesome legacy of Charlie Kirk. More amazing things are to come to bear. Be a good person, not a nice person. Be Charlie Kirk.
