BRADLEY: History’s Hall of Shame

Let’s take a stroll down History’s Hall of Shame!

Moses parted the Red Sea and led the enslaved Israelites out of the Pharaonic tyranny of Egypt. The Son of God became man and preached “ Love thy neighbors as thyself “ and “Blessed are the Peacemakers for they shall inherit the earth.” Then the Roman Senate murdered Caesar to prevent a dictatorship. Prefiguring Judas’s betrayal of Jesus Christ, Caesar’s words, as he passed into eternity, were “ Et Tu, Brutus!” Ironically, Caesar’s murder resulted in centuries of despotic authoritarian rule by tyrannical Roman Emperors.

In the Middle Ages, Erasmus from Rotterdam preached the message of tolerance, understanding, and peace, an obvious reformulation of “Love Thy Neighbor As Yourself”. Unfortunately, the Catholic Church had strayed far from these teachings, resulting in the splintering of the Catholic Church led by Martin Luther. Then King Henry VIII chose multiple wives in search of a male heir and ordered his best friend, St. Thomas More, beheaded for his insolent failure to support Henry’s philandering.

In the 20th century, Wilson’s World War I peace treaty and Neville Chamberlain’s “Peace in Our Time” brought us World War II and the end of the British Empire! WWII resulted in the ascendancy of the USA and the American Century, riddled with the Korean conflict, the Vietnam War, the Iraq War, the Afghan War, and the Biden-Zelensky Ukraine War. In the 21st century, Mao Tse Tung, Xi Jinping, and Putin, mass murderers of Uighurs and Christians and enslavers of the Chinese and Russian people, emerged.

And so, History raises the question: When will we ever learn? In 2024, the American electorate announced: “Enough is enough!” They returned Donald Trump to the Presidency. He is working tirelessly to save the USA for our children and grandchildren. President Trump has answered the call of history and deserves the Nobel Peace Prize!
