My friend Vindaloo Bugaboo and I often “collaborate and amplify” each other’s posts over at the commie enclave Carbon Upfront! to ensure that 1) we are trying to make the other side THINK about what they are writing, 2) get them to “play checkers” and start thinking of ramifications of “Move 1” and the effects of such moves going forward, and 3) some at their assertions from Points of View (Freedom, Liberty) in which they have very little comeback.
It doesn’t hurt that we can document EXACTLY what we argue, which, from time to time, makes Lloyd Alter a very blustery and upset Eco-Socialist. Like here (warning – F-bomb from him).
Pat started it with the wealth redistribution part and “degrowth”; as you can see both VB and I commented on the global birth decline but then VB made the mistake that you can’t mandate redistribution. I was VERY surprised as VB generally NEVER makes such a mistake and you can see that I corrected him.
And that’s when our back-and-forth torqued Lloyd off. To be truthful, we really aren’t trolling him (as you can see, as a very small bit, we documented our suppositions), but as a self-proclaimed Socialist (e.g., budding totalitarian), he didn’t like the cat being let out of the bag. I just sent this question to VB as I REALLY want to scratch Alter’s itch just a tad more with this:
Do you think he’d ban both of us off if I replied to him with “But Lloyd, History is replete with examples that totalitarian regimes first disarmed their citizenry/serfs FIRST to take complete control.”
Heh! I’m really on the cliff edge on this right now – see him absolutely lose it or lose what has been a veritable ocean of blogging fodder….hmmm. Should I make him go apoplectic?
