From a vantage point of long years, now reaching 88, I believe the key to MAGA achievement is to: “MAKE AMERICA STATES AGAIN (MASA).” Our Constitutional Republic structure, called Federalism“was wisely summed up by James Madison : Powers of federal government are few and defined, the states have unlimited powers. We see this trend of reversal straying away from this wisdom, assuming federal power over state power in NH: $100 yearly pay for State Rep’s and $174,000 annually for U.S. Rep’s. This value disparity identifies the importance we place on these offices and exposes the tragic decline in federalism, our republican form of government, during our two century plus experiment in self government. Now we are governed under this false assumption that the created federal government is now a superior agent than their Creators, the state governments. Despite this chronic restraint on the Founders blueprint for liberty, the American people have been blessed with more liberty than all other nations combined throughout history.
Today, we suffer the consequences of our votes. Uninformed voters have given us bureaucratic regulations; corporate bailout of banks and insurance companies, unconstitutional wars, and the progressive nationalization of healthcare, education and police. All being funded by the Federal Reserve with inflated dollars through constantly increasing the money supply. What has happened to this wisdom of President James Garfield: “Now more than ever before , the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness and corruption. if it be intelligent, brave and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them?” We the people have written this ugly decline of Americas greatness with our votes.
Federalism is not broken. It just needs action from we who profess to be self-governed. Demand our elected officials from local, county, state and federal levels serve us within the limits of the law to which they are sworn. A key ingredient is for us to elect intelligent, brave and pure representation at the local and state level , and follow, voting for the same in the federal Congress to control presidential abuse of power. The power of the lesser Magistrate must be restored; reigning in abuse of powers, judicial activism (Article III, Section 2), and the House control of purse strings (Article 1, Section 7) at the federal level. At the state level our weapon to deter tyranny is State Nullification as Jefferson advises:
“Whenever the general government assumes undelegated powers, its acts are unauthoritative , void and of no force…Where powers are assumed which have not been delegated , a nullification of the act is the rightful remedy : that every State has a natural right in cases not within the compact… to nullify of their own authority all assumptions of power by others within their limits: that without this right, they would be under the dominion , absolute and unlimited, of whosoever might exercise this right of judgement for them.”
