Queen City Pride Has No Shame

Queen City Pride 2021

Saturday, we went to the Queen City Pride Festival in Manchester and stood on the public sidewalk outside the event with “No Puberty Blockers” and “Gender Clinics Harm Children” signs as well as a sign displaying the cover of the book “Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters” by Abigal Shrier.

We were there because the hundreds of kids and teens attending the event are at high risk of taking puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and having healthy body parts removed to make their bodies into a facsimile of the opposite sex.

When we arrived on the public sidewalk outside the festival, we were quickly surrounded by a group that taunted us and tried to block our signs. One young woman ripped the “No Puberty Blockers” sign from my arms and ran off with it, never to be seen again. The mob was terrified of anyone seeing our messages.

Our attackers believe that if they dress up in colorful clothing, repeat the mantra “Love Is Love,” and drive away dissenters, using force if necessary, they can live happily ever after in a world of rainbows and unicorns.

We were repeatedly told by those surrounding us that we should “let kids be.” Each time I replied that I completely agree that kids should be left alone to develop normally. We told them that kids and teens couldn’t possibly understand the risks of medical transition.

At Boston Children’s pediatric gender clinic, they treat kids as young as three. As early as age ten, kids are put on puberty blockers. In their mid-teens, they are put on cross-sex hormones, and girls can have double mastectomies. At 17, boys can have their penises removed, and a fake vagina created, and at 18, young women can have their vagina removed and a fake penis created.

Kids and teens can’t know how they will feel in the future about having permanently damaged their bodies,  losing their fertility and normal sexual functioning, and suffering debilitating illnesses in their 20s and 30s such as osteoporosis and heart disease.

The rally attendees didn’t want to hear any of that and shouted us down every time we tried to talk to them about it.

The next day, I messaged the Queen City Pride Facebook page to let them know about the mayhem we experienced. The organizer responded with concern until I told him about our cause. He told me our message is not welcome even on the public sidewalk outside their festival:

Yesterday was not the right platform for your mission. You took a positive celebration of the queer community and imposed your own values on an entire community. If you understand the gay community, you know what you did yesterday was wrong. You may have been peaceful. But our community said to you – no thank You.

The next time you see a Pride event, remember that the fun and bright colors and happy messages are hiding a very dark reality of serious harm to kids, and the participants and organizers will go to great lengths to keep anyone from uncovering it.
