As Grokster Susan (and my Youngest) say often: indeed.  Forget about that pop culture is now telling us – raising a son, even a normal one (with both sons being ADHD, I’ll never know what the “easier side” of raising such was like) is not easy.  Pop culture says to indulge YOURSELF – and let them do what they want.  Nonsense!  When you and your husband made to decision that could lead to having a baby boy, you owned that responsibility come hell or high water (or sometimes, both, and more).  I came across this post a while ago on what I considered a good start of raising that son, and this lady said it well: best results start with choosing well with his father (emphasis mine):

Lately on Facebook, several versions of what it means to be a little boy’s mama have been circulating. They are touching, and bring a smile to your face, a touch of nostalgia, and perhaps even a tear to your eye. You are exhorted to have lots of energy, be ready to put up with bloody noses and reptiles in the house, see movies you don’t like, and various other true things.

We mamas of little boys have a tough job. We deserve a little smile as we ponder our muddy offspring. As I type this, my just recently de-mudded grandson is graciously allowing me a few minutes to recoup from a busy day of swimming, mud bogging, dump trucking, and hugging stinky dogs. His sister hung right in there with him. So, yes, we even need these moments that tell our hearts that our efforts are special moments that will unfold in a story book life for our beloved sons.

However, we also need some harder truths, and now is a good time to take a look at that. So, here’s my version, for what it’s worth.

The EPA’s power plant regulation overreach just got the thumbs down from the US Supreme Court.  I’m formatting Justice Scalia’s decision for the majority (complete EPA decision on MICHIGAN ET AL. v. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY ET AL. here) to post for the wonky folks who like to get into the weeds, but for now I’ll leave you with this.

Turning to the mechanics of the hazardous-air-pollutants program, EPA argues that it need not consider cost when first deciding whether to regulate power plants because it can consider cost later when deciding how much to regulate them. The question before us, however, is the meaning of the “appropriate and necessary” standard that governs the initial decision to regulate.

Translation: you will be assimilated.  Personal, individual faith must be disregarded – and then discarded.  After last week’s homosexual marriage decision by the Supremes, Obama made it patently clear that it is the Progressive thought is the only acceptable one.  Heck, we’ve been warned with the HHS abortifacient mandate, even applying to the elderly nuns of the Catholic order of The Little Sisters of the Poor.  He said:

I know that Americans of good will continue to hold a wide range of views on this issue. Opposition, in some cases, has been based on sincere and deeply held beliefs. All of us who welcome today’s news should be mindful of that fact and recognize different viewpoints, revere our deep commitment to religious freedom.

Yeah – this is why he is always misquoting the First Amendment.

So here’s this group of folks – “…an all-volunteer coalition of concerned citizens and leaders in the community that advocates for educational options in the Granite State. We support parents directing their children’s education and making the decisions that best fit their children’s needs. We believe that families should not be limited to their zip codes or socioeconomic status to have their children’s learning needs and goals met. When a child is in a program that “fits” them — everyone wins…the child, the family, and the community” – that’s been doing yeoman’s work at the state house in Concord for years trying to stem the ever-overreaching arm of the state Department of Education.

The Most High Commissioner of Education, Queen Barry, routinely sets her minions upon them whenever they dare to the oppose, nay, even question her reign.  Under her reign, the NH Department of Education has been weaponized, strong-arming legislators, school administrators and parents, directing her army of thralls to attack whenever any peasant attempts to raise his or her head over the parapet.

Yesterday, one such peasant, simply desiring to comply with state law, was so set upon.

The imaginary game from the great Calvin and Hobbes comic strip series seems eerily like what liberals have made of what is supposed to be our constitutional republic.

The right is behind in this game because we don’t want to admit we’re playing it but we are. I’ll admit I’m late to the game. While I still don’t think it’s time to go full Obama it is time to embrace a hybrid game that allows us to live within the Constitution while fighting back. Well, we could if there was a party willing to play for us.

Let’s pretend for a moment the GOP wakes up one morning and realizes it stands for something beyond “win seats, hire loyalists, and pay consultants” (hey it’s Calvinball, anything is possible), what would want them to do?

I’ve said for years that Society could be analogized as a wall – standing tall and strong.  Still true if you pull out the random brick from here and there, it still holds.  Continue to do so and it starts weaving a bit like a skyscraper in a hurricane; continue to do so and targeting the “important” bricks, and we all know what will happen.  Liberty Unyielding believes we have hit the “too many yanked bricks” time (emphasis mine):

Legal minds will write more detailed briefs about the ins and outs of the decision in King v. Burwell.  But what’s more important at this turning point is a sense of history, and what it means for a people when its last governmental refuge for black-letter understanding self-detonates.

We know that the legislature and the executive already abandoned reason, process, and good faith in creating the Obamacare monster.  The Supreme Court has now very clearly done the same.
