Serfdom USA

Heh! (H/T: Café Hayek)

BlogThought of the Day: Trust me, it’s you and not voters

Dear candidates: maybe it’s time to stop asking “what’s wrong” with Trump. “The question isn’t what’s wrong with Trump. He’s winning. And the question darned sure shouldn’t be what’s wrong with the voters who respond to him positively. That’s a political suicide dive. The real question is and has always been, why aren’t you doing better?“ But … Read more

Official Yacht of the Democrat Party

After all, Democrat National Chair CongressCritter Debbie Wasserman-Schultz can’t say what the difference is between Democrats and Socialists: And NH Democrat Chair Ray Buckley can’t either…. (H/T: Powerline)

Bernie, now Maggie “The Red” Hassan: degrading the common language

There is no War on Women – at least here in the US (look to the Muslim countries to see how .  But politicians on the Left side of the aisle, especially as one grows more and more Socialist, they are much more apt to distort the language – it is what they do to hide their true intent.  After all, who ever thought that she’d she’d try to “nationalize” the hospitals in the State (re: MaggiCare) by “other words”?

But here is what she said in a campaign email fundraiser, trying to raise money off her loss in the NH Executive Council on the defunding Planned Parenthood. A snippet (emphasis mine):

“Now you begin to understand me…”

Graphic: SusanTheBruce “Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from the oligarchies … Read more

“Commitments Kept” – a new PAC for Kelly Ayotte. Have I got a question for them!

This came in over the transom a bit ago and I forgot to post it up:

Commitments Kept New Hampshire Launches Grassroots Organization
Bringing Cutting-Edge Tactics and Technology to New Hampshire’s US Senate Race

Really – a “Grassroots” type of organization?  When I see or hear that, I think just ordinary Joes and Janes that just decide, a la De Tocqueville, that something has to be done and grabs a bunch of other voluntary folks like them in an ad hoc fashion to make it happen.

Umm, when you read WHO is behind this, are we seeing yet another bending of the common language so as to tip its definition upside down.

Thank God For The Atom Bomb?

112542-004-59879F6DOn the 70th anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb…it’s as a good a time as any to revisit, “Thank God for the Atom Bomb.”

Here’s a link to a PDF if you prefer (or here), but it is reformatted in it entirety on the Grok for your serious and measured consideration.

Bio c/o WSJ.

Thank God for the Atom Bomb – 1981 essay by the late Paul Fussell, the cultural critic and war memoirist. In 1945 Fussell was a 21-year-old second lieutenant in the U.S. Army who had fought his way through Europe only to learn that he would soon be shipped to the Pacific to take part in Operation Downfall, the invasion of the Japanese home islands scheduled to begin in November 1945.

Then the atom bomb intervened. Japan would not surrender after Hiroshima, but it did after Nagasaki.

Well, my post about Houston Mayor Annise Parker and the razing of two churches caught someone’s eyeballs

HoustonWell, my post about Houston Mayor Annise Parker and the razing of two churches caught someone’s eyeballs (which was here: Is lesbian Houston Mayor Annise Parker going after Christianity – again?).  Who’da thunk it – that a small state blog here in NH would attract the attention of a left-of-center political heavy weight from Houston (a city whose size is > NH)?   But it did:

Turns Out The PA AG Who Dropped A Bribery Case Against Fellow Dems in 2014 Is Corrupt.

Pennsylvania’s Democrat Attorney General, Kathleen KaneRemember Pennsylvania’s Democrat Attorney General, Kathleen Kane? She abandoned a slam-dunk bribery sting that netted local Democrats, because they were Democrats silly. (also here)

Well!?

HotAir!

First she blamed racism because the five videotaped Democrats were black. Then she blamed a “Good Ol’ Boys club” out to get her because she is a woman. Then she threatened to sue the Philly newspaper that published the story.

What happened next is what brings us to today.

NH Medicaid Expansion Weighs Down State Budget

To paraphrase Theodore Dalrymple, “distress” always expands to meet the supply of publicly funded services available to reduce it. So the idea that Medicaid expansion would expand Medicaid was never in doubt. If you build it they will come. If you build it with other people’s money, and back it forever, they may come in … Read more

Victims of Circumstance

Theodore Dalrymple | City Journal The word “fell” denies agency to the young men, as if they had no choice in the matter. They were victims of circumstance by virtue of their membership of a minority, for minorities are by definition victims without agency. There is a strange parallel here with how heroin addicts explained … Read more

This, from Socialist Bernie Sanders, caught my ear on Sunday’s This Week talking head show

Bernie SandersCertainly ole’ Bernie is tapping into something on the hard Left – proving what a lot of us on the Right have been saying for a while: the center of the Democrat Party is now outright Socialist.  And step by step, over the decades, they have been using the Law & Regulation stick to transform us into that utopia of theirs and away from our Constitutional roots. And another whack – I blame the Republican Party for not standing up and fighting hard enough to stop them.  But anyways, here’s what he said Sunday’s This Week with George Stephanopoulus and immediately saw the incoherence:

Absolutely we need a path to citizenship for undocumented workers. We need to take people out of the shadows.  What my consern is then was, and remains, is with these guest worker programs which you are reading about where you have folks in high tech industries getting fired while corporations are bringing in people from Russia and other countries into the United States to replace American workers to drive wages down.

My takeaways:

  • So, he is willing to reward those that have broke our laws from the get go.  Socialist governments break their own laws all the time when the end justifies the means.  Any even cursory of such countries can show how this develops – and how it ends (have you been watching Venezuela lately?).
