El Nino Climate Story in Sunday’s Union Leader is Misleading

This morning’s Union Leader includes a story from the LA Times, “Report: El Niño could be most powerful on record.” It suggests that an important region used to measure the strength of the phenomenon is as warm as anyone has ever recorded. And it is. The problem is that data critical to such a comparison has been left out of the reporting.

The significance of the 1997/1998 El Niño was higher surface water temperatures in “important regions” to the east of the area being reported on by the Times and Union Leader; where the water is cooler today than it was in 97/98.

Ben Carson Has Peaked

Dr. Ben Carson filed with the NH Sec. of State this week, and what followed was an incomprehensible mess. In our opinion, he’s a great guy but he is done, it’s just a matter of time.  We also discuss what, if anything, a Conservative candidate like Cruz could accomplish if elected given the political class … Read more

No, Syrian Refugees are Not like Jews Fleeing Germany in 1939

The Washington Post’s Dana Milbankwrote Monday, “This growing cry to turn away people fleeing for their lives brings to mind the SS St. Louis, the ship of Jewish refugees turned away from Florida in 1939,” while his colleague Ishaan Tharoor contended: “Today’s 3-year-old Syrian orphan, it seems, is 1939’s German Jewish child.” Meanwhile, a Daily Kos headline shouts: “Replace ‘Syrian’ with ‘Jewish’ and we’re back to 1939.”

This is prima facie nonsense, which should be obvious from the terms being compared:

Faux Filer – Ben Carson

Ben Carson lost me a long time ago, when he made this blunder of a statement in 2013 on the Glenn Beck program.  Today, he’s doubling down.

Essentially, he used his lack of “political experience” to explain why he thought people in urban/populated areas should be prohibited from having semi-automatic weapons – but not people in “rural areas”.

Bill Gardner Frisked by Clinton campaign

While attempting to walk this foolish statement back, Carson said, “Early on, when I entered the political arena and I was asked the question about guns, I didn’t know at that time that you always start that off by saying how important the Second Amendment is and that you will never compromise that”.

This statement is almost as idiotic.  A caveat does not cleanse or absolve you from making incorrect, egregious statements.  This type of relativism is typical of politicians today and is sadly pervasive in our culture.

Not educating himself on such a vital topic, before going on a nationally syndicated program, then following up with such a weak-ass excuse, shows a fundamental lack of good judgement in Ben Carson.

My negative gut instincts about Carson were validated at that moment – and a few times since then.

Well….flash forward to today, November 20, 2015.

Sen. Rand Paul Conference Call – November 19th, 2015

Senator Rand Paul
UNITED STATES – SEPTEMBER 26: Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.,(Photo By Bill Clark/CQ Roll Call)

I had an opportunity to sit in on a conference call today with Sen. Rand Paul at 3:30 EST. Short call, three questions asked (which was good for me because I was listening in from work). These are not verbatim quotes of questions or answers just a synopsis from my notes on the call. If any of you were also on the call and have more detail please share. Thanks!

1) Is the current screening process for Refugees insufficient?

Bigmouth NH Left Not Outraged By Hassan’s Refugee Stance?

BOSTON BOMBER TSARNAEV
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Thanks Progressives for all those years of compassion

Governor Hassan added her name to the list of Governor’s seeking greater assurance that Syrian refugees are thoroughly vetted. (which we know is virtually impossible.) Put more simply, Uncle Sam, no thank you, until you can provide assurances.

Republicans that share that stance, in the liturgy of the left, must be labeled xenophobic, discriminatory, uncompassionate, bigots by the ideological jackals on the left, especially here in the Granite State; but what of Gov. Maggie Hassan?

While national progressive voices have expressed concern at Maggie’s position the NH Democrat party is silent. Miscellany Blue is silent.

Oh, Jeanne Shaheen? About that “vetting process”? You too, WMUR Part 2

Once again, immigration has decided to front and center itself – it was illegal immigration and now it is immigration of the refugee type, specifically Syrian refugees or, more importantly, those of the Islamic Jihadist (be it ISIS or AQ or some other of the same ilk) not wanting to waste a crisis (hey, where have I heard THAT before?).  Here it was clear that my Ambassador from the Federal Government to NH Senior Senator Jeanne Shaheen (pbuh) was toeing the Feds / Obama’s line of “ooh, strict, strict, strict vetting process!”; that post was to be a partial knockdown of that obvious bald faced lie silliness spewing from her with the boost of WMUR not bothering to, as a true journalist would, challenge her on the facts.  No, not just on the fact of the process but in the reality of the ground in Syria as well as the Obama Administration’s admissions that the “databases” to be considered are non-existent (not to say that these “refugees” have no paperwork to speak with – only their tacquiya word is to be believed.

Here is  the Vice Chair of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security, Congressman Louie Gohmert’s op ed (emphasis mine):

Despite Obama’s Claims, We Are Not Able to Properly Screen Syrian Refugees

There is truly a war taking place throughout the world. Radical Islam is at war with Western civilization that is not currently part of its caliphate. Though the Obama administration is out to convince you that there’s no war, or that climate change is our country’s biggest threat, the bloodbath in Paris proves the contrary without doubt. Though we are not engaged in defending ourselves fully, the one-sided war goes on, allowing our enemy to get stronger and more radical.

America is now faced with a stinging reality, one that threatens the very heart of our national security. President Obama has instructed his administration to bring tens of thousands of Syrian refugees into our country without any real standard of document authentication or actual database of information that would allow us to effectively vet these people.

Hey, you Fight for $15 SEIUers? Forget the hamburger robo-flipper and kiosks…

shelf restocking robotxAll we’ve been hearing is that the fast food workers DESERVE $15/hour.  Not that they earn it – they DESERVE it.  Not that they are economicially worth it for the skill level they have – they DESERVE it.  And the back story is that it’s all about the SEIU union coffers, looking to cash in.  We’ve previously talked about the robot hamburger maker and order taking kiosks.  Well, here’s the robo-stock-the-shelves monkey (I was one in high school and college vacations) job killer. Oh, grocery store unions?  (emphasis mine, reformatted):

A shelf-scanning bot called Tally will help make sure everything is in its place in supermarkets and other retail outlets.

When customers can’t find a product on a shelf it’s an inconvenience. But by some estimates, it adds up to billions of dollars of lost revenue each year for retailers around the world.

A new shelf-scanning robot called Tally could help ensure that customers never leave a store empty-handed. It roams the aisles and automatically records which shelves need to be restocked.

Palate Cleanser: The Gun Control Song

Ahh, I needed a good laugh today.  If you do too,  check this out; The Gun Control Song set to Billy Joel’s Only the Good Die Young. You can be one hundred percent positive, That when a crazy person shoots someone You know Obama’s gonna blame the gun! https://youtu.be/TjpdT2SmbRU (h/t TheDC)

Obama acts the bully; Cruz calls him out.

It is clear that Obama views Republicans, especially Constitutional conservatives and TEA Party folks, as an existential enemy.  Given the furor that Obama caused by his presser the other day and calling out his political opposition over Syrian refugees and hurting “widows and orphans”, one could see his use of Alinsky’s Rule #5:  “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”  The problem for Obama is that he has overplayed his hand with his “ridicule”.  If using Governor count, it is clear that he has called more than half of the country bigoted, uncaring, xenophobic, and “othering”.  His gaslighting

Problem for him is that there is a fine line that keeps ridicule from being crass bullying – and he crossed it.  In doing so, he violated Rule #7: “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.”  We’ve been listening to this crap for 8 long years – who cares any more.  It is expected from him now, it is all he is: an angry, bitter man whose sole love in life is control by turning groups of people against each other. Some legacy, eh?

Ted Cruz, whom we just endorsed, was not having any of it – the proper response to any bully:
