This is edited video of the press conference introducing the NH Income tax calculator; which we discussed in the first two segments of GrokTALK! this past Saturday. The calculator allows anyone who lives in New Hampshire to calculate your own additional cost from new taxes that will be required to pay for expanded Medicaid even before the Feds … Read more

Notice the ‘sinking ship’ on the Seal…

After reporting on Kasich’s shoving of Obamacare’s Medicaid Expansion onto Ohio without the legislature’s vote, it has been discovered that his lies are even deeper than that.

In all honesty, the man seems to have contempt for anyone who disagrees with him.

by Ralph Benko – Which Presidential Aspirant(s) Would Make America (And You!) Prosper?

Am Principles Project

Guest Post

By Ralph Benko – Senior Economic Advisor at the American Principles Project

As I recently wrote in my Forbes.com column, “Presidential elections are about, above all, just two things: our security and our prosperity.” The GOP candidates have been emphatic about our national security, about which more in a bit.

All of them strangely have been pretty quiet about our prosperity. Getting the economy moving again deserves, now, to be the top issue. Ted Cruz has offered the most Reaganesque plan for getting us robust growth. Cruz laid out a solid, credible, prosperity plan. He presented his Flat Tax and, most important, staked out a credible recipe for excellent monetary policy: the gold standard.

Breaking News – Rand Paul Suspends Campaign

Rand Paul’s national Campaign manager, Mike Biundo, just announced on Facebook that Rand Paul has suspended his campaign for the Republican nomination for President. Senator Paul did not fare well in Iowa, and only one poll in NH has him polling above 2%. While he will be missed my suspicion is that with his polling … Read more

So it has come to this….for Jeb!

Jeb face downThis is really dismal – if you have to ASK for applause for yourself, what does that say both you and your campaign?

“My pledge to you, I will be a commander in chief that will have the back of the military,” Bush told the crowd. “I won’t trash talk, I won’t be a divider-in-chief or an agitator-in-chief. I won’t be out there blowharding, talking a big game without backing it up.”  “I think the next president needs to be a lot quieter but send a signal that we’re prepared to act in the national security interest of this country,” he added. “To get back in the business of creating a more peaceful world.”

After that line, Bush paused, seemingly waiting for the crowd to applaud and cheer him — but they didn’t.

“Please clap,” Bush had to tell the crowd, sounding defeated.

Oy vay!  That’s pitiful.  I know that politicians have to be able to take rejection almost as much as actors, used car salesman and telemarketers, but that is bad.  But to actually ask for applause to make you feel better about yourself?

Blogline of the Day – hard work ahead, Democrats

If this enthusiasm gap continues through the general election, the Democrats will really need to work overtime on voter fraud to have a decent shot at the White House. (H/T: Instapundit)

Data Point – NH is #1!

(CNSNews.com) – New Hampshire, which will host the nation’s first presidential primary next Tuesday, ranks as the top state in the nation for the percentage of households that have broadband Internet subscriptions. 82.1 percent of all households in the Granite State had broadband internet access in 2014, according to the latest Census Bureau data, which … Read more

Chris Christie? May want to rethink your notion of “safe”

instead of “safety theater”: incompetence. SHOT: Chris Christie defends TSA, says getting blown up is ‘inconvenient.’ CHASER: “The Department of Homeland Security said Monday that the acting administrator for the Transportation Security Administration would be reassigned, following a report that airport screeners failed to detect explosives and weapons in nearly every test that an undercover … Read more

Bill Binnie, be thankful you got out cheap!

Jeb face downBack to 2010’s election cycle when the NH Senatorial race was running – the Big Dog from the $$ perspective was “hundreds millionaire” Mr. Binnie.  If I remember right, he spent the equivalent about $450/vote in the Primary – and didn’t even come close (Note to Bernie Sanders: pay attention that money sometimes doesn’t make a difference).  But man, Bill must be thanking himself for his own restraint.

Jeb!, not so much:

Jeb Bush spent about $25,000 for every vote he got in Iowa. He outspent everyone just to stay barely competitive. He came in sixth place, behind Rand Paul (who may or may not be wondering whether risking his own Senate seat is worth it at this point), which is a frankly embarrassing finish for someone who spent so much.

For a lousy 3% of the vote last night; a horrible return on investment on time, effort, and money.  My prediction, as his donor’s political crack money supply is drying up faster than California was before El Nino, NH may be his last stand.  If he’s not substantially above that, and not placing in the top 3, he’s toast.  While he could slink onward to South Carolina, I bet he’s got to be looking in that mirror and going “what the heck has happened”?  Will he continue to the bitter end (re: no money at all) or take the more honorable and more honest route and finally admit “This is not my time”.

It had nothing to do with him being a one term Senator

“Seven years ago, we made a huge mistake,” Christie said at Wellman’s Pub in West Des Moines. “We elected a first-term United States senator to the presidency of the United States. Somebody who had never managed anything more than a 30-person Senate staff, and who never had made a decision of consequence that they were going to be held accountable for where people’s lives were on the line.”

Christie-ObamaNo, Obama’s problem wasn’t that he was a first term Senator cum President.  If you look at what he said he was going to, fundamentally transform the US, I would he has succeeded.  He has made Congress irrelevant, cowered the Republican, neutered the will of the We the People by ignoring election results, embraced and enriched (in terms of power and money) his friends and allied groups, and weaponized the Federal Government against those that oppose him (the EPA, the IRS, Labor Department, DOT), and unilaterally instituted every Lefty group’s idea of deindustrialization, regionalization, removing “offending” industries (e.g., coal) and hamstringing others (e.g., Frank-Dodd), reduced religious liberty (via Obamacare’s contraceptive mandate as well as pushing the LGBTQRSTUV agenda), and further taking over and nationalizing our education system. And insulted our former allies and made a mockery of the US in the sight of our enemies.  And I predict that his “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” will result in Iran getting AND USING the Bomb.

Biggest Loser last nite w/respect to the Iowa Caucus results?

Remember while reading the below that two of the three top finishers are TEA Party associated (emphasis mine):

And the night’s biggest loser wasn’t Donald Trump (though he indeed lost big), but the GOP establishment, what William F. Buckley once referred to in the initial mission statement of National Review as the “Well-fed right whose ignorance and amorality have never been exaggerated for the same reason that one cannot exaggerate infinity.” They suffered a loss so ignominious and dramatic that one needs to step back a bit to reflect on its comprehensiveness. The campaign began with seventeen GOP candidates, of whom eleven had longtime pre-Tea Party era experience in elected office, including several senators and the former Governors of Texas, New York, and Florida. Between pre-caucus drop-outs and election night performances, those eleven candidates took just nine percent of the vote combined. Nine percent. The other ninety-one percent of the vote went to candidates who had neither not held office before 2010 or whom had never held office at all.

In the face of repudiation this total,

Someone else understands why Bernie is doing well with Millenials

I’ve been saying saying the same thing for years – and remember that it was the Frankfurt School and Gramsci that said for the Socialist / Communists to take over the ramparts of culture.  Now we are seeing that they were successful (emphasis mine):

ANALYSIS: TRUE. OU professor: Youths’ attraction to Sanders shows education failure. “It’s disheartening that an avowed socialist is a viable candidate for president of the United States. Socialism is a dead end. For hundreds of years, it has failed everywhere it’s been adopted. The enthusiasm of our youth for the candidacy of Bernie Sanders is a symptom of our failure to educate them, not only in history, government and economics, but also basic morality.”

And it has been by design.  If you don’t know your own history,
