A GoBankingRates.com survey (fixed link) awarded New Hampshire the honor of being the cheapest state in the nation to own a car. This cost of ownership is based on expenses in the first three years after you buy so no, the purchase-price is not part of the calculus. But according to GoBankingRates.com, U.S. car owners will pay an additional $11,227 on average to buy and own a car for three years on taxes, title and other point-of-purchase fees, registration fees, gas, car insurance, and other maintenance costs.

In New Hampshire the average cost was over three-thousand-dollars less.

A commemoration of the event that is often credited as the first act of rebellion in the American colonies against the British Crown will be held in Weare, NH on Wednesday, April 13, 2016.

On the same day in 1772, Ebenezer Mudgett, a citizen of Weare, led a group of his neighbors to the “Pine Tree Tavern“, owned by Aaron Quimby and “assaulted the offending officials. Their faces blackened with soot, the rioters gave the sheriff one lash with a tree switch for every tree being contested. The American College of Pediatricians urges educators and legislators to reject all policies that condition children to accept as normal a life of chemical and surgical impersonation of the opposite sex. Facts – not ideology – determine reality.

There are some good points in this statement and most, if not all of it, will irritate a significant number of gender-disorientation leftists, but this might be my favorite.

When an otherwise healthy biological boy believes he is a girl, or an otherwise healthy biological girl believes she is a boy, an objective psychological problem exists that lies in the mind not the body, and it should be treated as such.

The MoveOn mountebanks have sent out a link to a video featuring Robert Reich commenting on the current Supreme Court nominee situation and the Senate’s advice.  You remember Mr. Reich, the wee fella in the Clinton administration (the last one, not the looming one). He makes his case with his general thesis being: Those dastardly Republicans claim to cherish the Constitution, but in reality they are undermining it by their actions in the Senate. They “don’t want to fulfill their Constitutional responsibility”. Harrumph, harrumph! If he could reach the desk top, he’d be pounding it I’m sure.

Now, the video is amusing because the medium he uses to make his case is a cartoon.  Which is very prosodic in the poetic sense of the word — something is doing what it is saying. That he’s using a cartoon to convey his cartoonish arguments is fantastic. Say what you want about Mr. Reich, but the fella knows his audience and how to reach them. Keep the syllable count low, the words simple, and use bright colorful pictures. Smiley faces for good. Frowny faces, sad. Meany faces, bad.

Ayotte joins the GOP Senate majority

Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) got it right when she walked back her open door to Obama’s Supreme Court nominee today stating that she supports Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) position to not consider the nominee and let the people decide.

The people of New Hampshire have one of the most important roles in the presidential nominating process, and New Hampshirites should have their votes count in determining the direction of the Supreme Court for the next twenty years.

Nothing less than the Second Amendment is at risk, as Obama’s nominee has proven in his current judicial role to be a certain vote against the Heller decision overturning this landmark assertion that law-abiding citizens have an individual right to keep and bear arms. Can any thinking person after watching the current president’s constant barrage against guns and gun ownership honestly doubt that repealing Heller would be at the top of his nominee’s agenda?
