Mention the words, “Uranium One,” and many Americans shrug their shoulders, either blissfully unaware of the controversy or convinced that it’s a Republican ploy targeting Hillary Clinton and the Democrats. Others see a major scandal with far greater impact than Watergate. They see the covert sale of 20 percent of our uranium deposits to a Russian-owned company in exchange for bribes at the highest levels of our government.
Gratitude – a question from Arthur Milikh
Do we still embody it, are mindful of having such an attitude, or has Progressivism wiped it off the face and soul of our country? Emphasis mine:
…At the end of the Proclamation, Washington implores Americans toward modesty regarding our own powers, reminding citizens that we live in an order that may be mysterious insofar as God possesses superior knowledge of what is “best.” But are all peoples capable of gratitude? In the present time it has become fashionable to espouse if not open atheism, then at least antagonism toward religion. These opinions come forth in various, sometimes obfuscated, forms.
Part of the left’s recent fanaticism originates from the fact that progressivism’s quasi-religion lacks any understanding of gratitude and humility. Progressivism precludes belief in these since progress as an alleged cosmic force is neither merciful nor beneficent, but is merely abstract and all-powerful. As such, it does not encourage its believers toward either humility or gratitude.

Update to Kimberly Morin’s October 31 post on the Grok: Alicia Neely has been reinstated to her job at the Sununu Youth Center. The formal announcement from Governor Sununu does not indicate if she’ll get back pay. See Morin’s October 25 post at New Hampshire Political Buzz for a summary of the case – the … Read more
Portsmouth Air BnB Renter Should Say They are “Domiciled” for Voting Purposes
The city of Portsmouth, New Hampshire has denied a couple the right to rent a property they own on Air BnB. Matthew Beebe and Barbara Jenny bought the home next to theirs for their Daughter who travels and planned to use short-term rentals until her return, but the city has issued a cease and desist order.
[City attorney] Sullivan explained on Thursday that unless something is specifically allowed under Portsmouth’s zoning ordinance, it is not permissible.

The world economy explained with two cows – Part 5 Traditional Capitalism
Notice that opposed to the other forms of capitalism (nor “not capitalism”), this is YOU oriented (all others are about being The State / bureaucrat oriented). YOU get to make the decisions – not someone else. YOU get to plan your future – not someone else. YOU get to take the risk – and then … Read more
Notable Quote – Prof. Victor Davis Hanson
“So what drives deplorablism? It is not so much an ideological or even political movement as it is a spiritual and psychological frame of mind that is fed up with hypocrisies of the proverbial establishment, bicoastal cultural elites, and the deep administrative state.” –Prof Victor Davis Hanson (History professor, author, speaker) (H/T: Instapundit)
Data Point- this quarter to be even BETTER than previously forecast?
Don’t look now, but U.S. growth forecasts are moving higher. That’s helping to support U.S. stocks. Projections for U.S. economic growth from two Federal Reserve banks have risen in recent weeks. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York on Friday forecast that gross domestic product will rise 3.8% in the fourth quarter, up from a … Read more
So RedDiaperBaby and Jeemo, what say you now about Obamacare costs? Start groveling with abject apologies – Part 2
US Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) in an op-ed says that while she didn’t support the Obamacare repeal votes earlier this year, she does support the tax reform bills having a repeal of the Individual Mandate that Government / Obamacare put in place for people who just wished to not purchase healthcare. Once again, look at the high cost of Government mandated plans that RedDiaperBaby and Jeemo are blaming on Trump and refusing to acknowledge that it is the structure of Obamacare itself that is driving costs soaring (emphasis mine):
Alaskans pay the highest price for premiums in the country. That is why the number of people enrolled on the exchange in Alaska has shrunk every year since the ACA was passed. People have been forced out of the market by the high cost of insurance, with some often forced to pay a tax because the price of insurance was too high for them to afford.
Tales from the BudComm: talk, talk, talk, talk….Let’s play hide the PBX, shall we? Part 1
Well, I’m back on my hamlet’s Budget Committee and we are now going over the town budget with the school district’s budget right behind it. Arguably, it is the most powerful committee/commission/entity in what is known as an “SB2 town” where SB2 stands for Senate Bill 2 – the legislation pass a few years back that created the ability for a town to swap out the traditional NH Town hall voting to one that splits the deliberative session and a ballot voting process.
My town also adopted the formal Budget Committee that came with it. The Town Selectmen must present their budget to us. The School Board has to present theirs as well. We deliberate, change it (or not), and then present both budgets to the townsfolk (not the Selectmen or the School Board) for deliberation/voting.
We are the last line of defense for the taxpayers. And an issue showed up two weeks ago on the Town side.
Remember that Womens March during Trump Inauguration? Here’s a better one
When the Eldest graduated from Paris Island, I watched a similar procession in person. Compared to the coven of the clueless that we watched on TV as Trump was being sworn in as President, I’d be happy to watch these young ladies all. day. long. (H/T: Powerline)

BlogTweet of the Day – a perfect demonstration husband and wife of the Left
John Conyers settled charges of sexually harassing staffers during the time his wife was in prison for taking bribes on the Detroit City Council.
The perfect Democrat power couple.
— Dan McLaughlin (@baseballcrank) November 21, 2017
While the MSM is giving a LOT of attention to conservative Republican Roy More for sexual stuff 40 years back (and Fox News beforehand), it has gotten so bad on the Left that New England talkmaster Howie Carr is running a “Perv Pool” – who will be the next notorious Leftist / Socialist / Democrat to be outed as both a hypocrite (“Republicans are bad for women”) and a sexual harrasser / abuser for HIGHLY inappropriate actions toward the fairer sex (or in the case of Kevin Spacey, other men). The parade of pervs seems to be never ending and other than more, one thing is true:
Each and every one of them is a Progressive and spouts the Progressive line
It seems that everywhere that the Left has invaded and taken over (e.g., Entertainment,
Taking the Kennedy-Clinton Dinner for a Good Natured Spin
I’ve read more than a few published posts about the New Hampshire Democrats labeling fiasco for the Kennedy-Clinton dinner. There are a few here at GraniteGrok. But this one was so much fun I had to share it. It’s an ancient tradition, this Kennedy-Clinton Dinner. Goes all the way back to 2016. (Is anybody reading this … Read more
Mueller? Mueller? Mueller? …
Both the FBI or Special Counsel Robert Mueller (mostly both) have been fishing in Lake Collusion for over a year now, with a big staff and a bottomless budget, and what do they have to show for it? The Clinton campaign and the DNC paid for a third party to create a dossier on Trump. But,
“…according to the Washington Examiner’s Byron York, FBI and Justice officials recently told congressional investigators that after spending nearly a year and a half looking into it, “they have not been able to verify or corroborate the substantive allegations of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign outlined in the Trump dossier.”
Is It Time for Some New Trolls?
The moderators at Granite Grok have allowed trolls to gum up the works of the comments section for a long time. These trolls have a pattern of behavior which is easy to see. It is tedious, repetitive, repetitive, and repetitive.
The saddest of our trolls live in Boulder, Colorado, couch surfing at a private home of some poor woman who appears to have as many emotional problems as our troll.
I took up countering this troll’s pathetic comments and attacks against Doug Lambert when he started in against Scott Morales. As an education tool in showing readers who have not dealt with mental cases, who pose as real commenters, my goal was to expose what they do as well as the pattern. When it came to Kevin Beck and his alter-egos I was merely going to let him do the work on his own.
CBS Just Fired Charlie Rose over Sexual Misconduct Allegations [Updated]

The Washington Times Reporting,
CBS News has fired Charlie Rose after several women accused the veteran newsman of sexual misconduct.
Rose has been one of three hosts of “CBS This Morning” since 2012 and is also a contributor to “60 Minutes.” PBS and Bloomberg also suspended airings of Rose’s nightly interview show after the Washington Post published an article Monday about women who said he groped them and walked around naked in front of them.
The New York Times just terminated former Politico Reporter and White House correspondent Glenn Thrush.
How About Next Year NH Democrats Call it the Weiner-Weinstein Dinner?
I guess the New Hampshire Democrat Party is going to meet on December 2nd to discuss changing the name of their Jefferson-Jackson Kennedy-Clinton biggest annual fundraising dinner. I’m not sure why. JFK and WJC are perfect examples of Democrat priorities and politics then and now. And that worked great until Democrats started using Bill’s sexual assault history to push Hillary off the political stage.
