President Trump visited New Hampshire today to talk about the opioid crisis and while doing so pointed to Lawrence Massachusetts as the hub of the Granite State’s ills; taking a legitimate shot at Sanctuary Cities as part of the problem.
A bill to repeal New Hampshire’s Interest and Dividend tax has met with an uncertain fate.
A motion that would’ve killed the bill entirely failed, 11-12, but a subsequent motion to table consideration was approved, 12-11, with Sen. John Reagan, R-Deerfield, the only member to vote with the majority in both instances. Sen. Jeb Bradley, R-Wolfeboro, did not vote citing a conflict of interest.
If a Senator does not move to reconsider the bill before the end of the session, which means another vote like the last, it will die until another day. That being a day when Republicans still have a majority and one with a bit more backbone.

As introduced House Bill 628 attempts to solve a problem that doesn’t exist to create a problem that didn’t exist. It framed a scheme for taxing income to backstop a medical family leave program so state government can create a new office to manage the tax. New Hampshire doesn’t have what most people think of as an income tax. But as originally designed HB628 would put into place the people and power necessary to add one which I believe is its real purpose.
A small army of activists has been working uphill against an establishment that seems hellbent on getting this passed despite any no-tax pledges and Republican registrations. So, far that effort has amounted to very little but the bill was recently amended.

The New Hampshire House recently passed a bill that would prohibit employers from having use-it-or-lose-it vacation policies. Employers that provide vacation time can expect their employees to use it up within a certain time, after which they lose it. HB1201 would require employers to give employees more time to use the vacation after which they would be required to pay the employee for that time.
Why shouldn’t we give them control over foreign policy as well? After all, we are being told by the Progressive Left and anti-gunners that these children are smarter and wiser than their parents (heck, teachers have been saying the kids know more than the parents for YEARS!), right? Back in 1991, I was the Clerk of the Works for a new fire station in the Town of Deering. This means I was at every Selectman’s meeting giving them updates. We put up a two-story, two-bay fire station in seven weekends, with a well and septic, including land purchase, for $30,000.00.
At the same time, a contractor was hired by the Deering Selectmen to build a glue-laminated bridge in town, just down the road for $48,000.00.

The story of a disturbed teenager never comes to the surface, only what a wonderful well-adjusted life he had as a girl in a boy’s body. Every whim, wish and want this kid ever had was granted or purchased for him.
He committed suicide and his mother celebrates his life with a half-page ad/obit in the MH. Nice way to divert responsibility – “mommy.”

But that leaves out the other part of international trade, a part I hoped the self-important monetary heard might have an answer for.

The left has labeled itself as ‘The resistance’ but when you consider what they are resisting it’s not flattering so let’s consider it.
The Resistance is resiting free speech. They want the government to limit speech, compel speech, to have power over the spoken and written word and the mediums used to convey it. Another word for that is fascism.
The Resistance wants the ruling class to have a monopoly on force.
Many of the students who participated in the Women’s March organized National Walkout are victims of Progressive pressure politics. Others are misinformed cattle used as mules for Liberal narratives. More than we can imagine were just happy to leave the building and go outside. And a small portion of them can see the forest for the trees.
The second amendment is an enumeration of a natural right that the State shall not deny law-abiding citizens.
There’s one more narrative we need to explore in the wake of the National Walkout.
There is nothing even close to an Ivy League education to set one apart from the deplorables. You can look anyone in the eye and say, “I graduated from, blah, blah, blah,” and not have to prove you have a clue about anything. It is automatically assumed you must be intelligent.

Lifelong marriage is an act of defiance against all of the difficulties of life, from the catastrophic to the mundane. In marriage, men and women promise themselves to one another, and tell fate to go to hell. The traditional promises that solemnize a marriage are some of the greatest assertions of human agency, and therefore of human dignity, possible. Our freedom is not realized in the possibility that we might do anything, but in doing what we have said we will do. Human freedom is consummated in the voluntary self-limitation of the promise made and fulfilled. In the making and keeping of promises, we assert ourselves against the world and the future as acting agents, not mere reactive beings responding to circumstance. The power of oaths in legend, literature, and law is due to their assertion of free human choice and will within the cosmos.
As Hannah Arendt observed, it is the making and keeping of promises, along with forgiveness, that put an end to reaction and allow us to begin something new. Seen from this perspective, marriage vows are not an ending that establishes a static state, but a beginning that allows something new to flourish. In keeping our marriage vows, we renew our freedom and dignity as acting agents while uniting the two halves of the human race in a union that continues it.
