Remember that is “Sununu reconsidering a senate run now that trump has unleashed his junkyard dog to oust him?” post of mine. There’s more to tell.
When I put up that post, I missed this, reformatted, emphasis mine:
“When we spoke earlier in the day, you told me that [President Trump] assigned you a couple of duties and one is in your home state of New Hampshire,” Carr said to Lewandowski. “What’s your assignment for President Trump in New Hampshire?”
That would be Howie Carr, Talk Master Supreme of New England.
“The president is very unhappy with the chief executive officer of the state of New Hampshire, Chris Sununu,” Lewandowski replied. “And Sununu, in the president’s estimation, is someone who’s never been loyal to him. And the president said it would be really great if somebody would run against Chris Sununu.”
Lewandowski said Trump has given him two jobs in the Granite State.
“One is making sure we’ve got a great candidate in U.S. Senate race who can beat Maggie Hassan, another failed, hack, Washington, DC politician who never delivered. And the second is potentially finding someone to run against Chris Sununu, to make sure they understand that the ‘America First’ agenda is more than just a saying. It’s actually about putting people first and listening to what constituents have to say,”
So, with that, Trump has decided to cut Sununu off at his political knees. Oust him from the Governorship and put up a blockage to my daybreak musing that he’d go back to thinking about running for US Senate.
Thus, two out of the three sides of a boxed canyon have risen around Chris.
Will there be a third rising soon?
Dunno, but two is enough. The operative question is whether or not Baby Huey’s internal polling shows he as a shot at either.
Other than Karen Testerman, there has been no one with much name recognition that has announced for Governor or will. With this announcement, will anyone reconsider seeing that a headwind has been put right up in his grill?
And it is still only Don Bolduc and Chuck Morse for US Senate. Again, the question from the opposite direction – who might get the “wind at their back” from Trump because Corey seemed to be dismissive of either one.
Or, are we going to see a redo of what I called him out on the last cycle? Is Corey going to run for either and just hasn’t opened up that box?
Last cycle, he did the Political Hokey-Pokey:
You put your right foot in
You put your right foot out
You put your right foot in
And you shake it all about
You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around
That’s what it’s all about!
And ended up, after all the teasing of “I”ll make up my mind later”, I complained that he effectively blocked a lot of folks from running for the Senate against Shaheen as he kept sucking up the political oxygen AND MONEY by extending and extending the decision.
By the time he said “Nope”, it was way too late. And “kindly Granny Shaheen” (as she remade her image on her long air campaign) won again. No one had a chance – a virtual lockout and lockdown.
So while others might be thinking “Hey, tell us if YOU are going to run, Corey?”, I’m going the other way:
Tell us if you are NOT going to run, Corey?
If you are, be honest, run, and run HARD. Otherwise, clear the taxiway, please. We don’t need another traffic jam.
