From the Washington Examiner on January 18th, Sun-King Sununu on why he decided to NOT run for the Senate:
“They [the GOP Senators whom Sun-King spoke to about what to expect] were all, for the most part, content with the speed at which they weren’t doing anything. It was very clear that we just have to hold the line for two years. OK, so I’m just going to be a roadblock for two years. That’s not what I do,” Sununu said.
The governor said the message from virtually every GOP senator he chatted with — and he chatted with most of them — was that they plan to do little more with the majority they are fighting to win this November than obstruct President Joe Biden until, “hopefully,” 2024 ushers a Republican into the White House. “It bothered me that they were OK with that,” Sununu said.
Sununu is right that it would be stupid for a GOP-Senate to simply “hold the line” against the Biden regime for two years. Needless to say, however, what Sununu would have a GOP majority do … compromise with the radicals running the Biden regime … is equally stupid.
A GOP Congress should go on offense against the Biden regime. Impeach Biden … or at least Mayorkas … over the regime’s lawless open border policies. Such an impeachment would be great optics for the GOP. Pass a budget that defunds any State that allows CRT … by any name … to be taught in public schools. Hold hearings about the politicization of the DOJ.
Of course, McCarthy and McConnell will do no such things. Instead, they will spend the next two years fundraising off open borders, CRT, etc. etc. etc. … telling us that they want to undo all the bad that Biden has done but they need bigger majorities to do so and that all depends on us showering them with campaign cash.
Ironically for Sununu, McCarthy and McConnell are NOT going to do what Pelosi did when she regained the Speakership following the 2018 midterm, which was to brazenly and proudly obstruct President Trump. Rather, McCarthy and McConnell are going to compromise whenever necessary to avoid conflict … “are you crazy? President Biden will veto the budget if we defund CRT and the media will blame us when the government shuts down.”
Sun-King Sununu did ask one question that exposed Team-Mitch’s true agenda:
More than that, Sununu was “bothered” by Republicans’ seeming inability to answer this question: “I said, ‘OK, so if we’re going to get stuff done if we win the White House back, why didn’t you do it in 2017 and 2018?’” How did the Republicans Sununu spoke with answer his challenge? “Crickets. Yeah, crickets,” the governor said. “They had no answer.”
The answer, OF COURSE, is that Paul Ryan, Mitch and their ilk did NOT support Trump’s America-First agenda. That is why virtually nothing got done by Congress except … wait for it, wait for it … BUSINESS TAX CUTS … during Trump’s first two years.
