Data Point – This is NOT Good!

Another adaptation of when you have a hammer, everything’s a nail – except this time it’s all about the immutable attribute of how much melanin you present.

When your Educational system is infested with “Equity” (e.g, ensuring equal outcomes vs equal opportunity) to the degree that is shows up on a graph, there’s a big problem

It’s caught in the trap that for the sake of the “underserved,” “marginalized,” or “oppressed,” the idea of meritocracy isn’t just thrown out the window, it’s destroyed. In order to have equal outcomes, everyone MUST be the same – and if the Educational-Industrial complex has its way, that will happen.

Already we see “gifted” programs being defunded, the different levels of classes appropriate for faster, middle, or slower students are obliterated.  Standards are being lowered and there are more than a few districts that are doing away with D’s and F’s (in fact, having just received the Grandson’s first report card in Kindergarten, it’s a blithering mess which tells us little how he is doing academically. All I know is that TMEW is working very hard after school on the things she’s noticed he’s deficient in with regards to her standards).  Grading a student (I HATE the replacement word of “learners”) against themselves doesn’t tell us how he really stands academically.

But then we can’t know where he stands at all – which seems to be the point.  It’s the replacement of the self-esteem participation trophy with one based on Equity.

You know, based on skin color for which there is no self-esteem in the Equity world.  Equal Outcomes.  I used to hear that a lot growing up – from countries on the other side of the Iron Curtain.
