As long term readers know, I’ve been doing posts like this for years. I’m also not shedding a tear over the current state of “the Press” in the US as they’ve brought it upon themselves by picking sides in the Culture/Media War.
And I can assure you – they’re not on “our” side.
So these bon mots from Trump back in 2017 are coming home to haunt them: “Newspapers, television, all forms of media will tank if I’m not there because, without me, their ratings are going down the tubes.”
Trust and ratings go hand in hand and for the Main Stream Press, the porcelain bowl is still swirling down to the septic tank.
Abstracted, reformatted from Breitbart:
The Hill, Washington Post, New York Times, Politico, Wall Street Journal, CNN, and Vox Media have lost a large percentage of monthly unique visitors since Trump led the nation, according to Comscore data cited by the Journal.
- Politico (one of the “go-to” Politics rags at the national level) – 48% drop
- WaPo – 28% (subscribers down by 300,000)
- Times – 15%
- Wall Street Journal – 9%
- Vox – 9%
The Washington Post’s mantra is “Democracy Dies in Darkness” and wants us all to think that if the media goes away, democracy goes as well. Rubbish, as they forgot the flip side: Democracy dies, as well, when the media all pick the same side.
Ideology matters to half of the country and they keep attacking us in that other half.
Sorry, we “do democracy” just fine without you all.
Oh, and just to add a couple of coals to the fire, our readership (as Steve keeps posting) keeps coming back and more new people are coming in all the time.
Chalk it up to being Consistent. And appealing to both sides of the aisle (because we talk to the half that the MSM insults and the Left wants to see what we’re writing about them).
