Long-time State Representative Ken Weyler got sacked this week as Chairman of the Finance Committee. To be clear, this is no defense of Weyler.
I recall attending an event with him in 2012, where he and I were the speakers in favor of a constitutional amendment that would have clarified that … as is the case elsewhere … the State’s judiciary did not have (as it claims) the ultimate authority to set its own procedural rules. Weyler went completely off the rails … for example, bizarrely and falsely claiming that the amendment would not have been passed by the Legislature “if the Court had overturned the Claremont decisions when we told them to” (not a direct quote, but that was the gist of it).
Suffice it to say, Weyler would not have been my choice for Chairman of any committee.
But why is Ned Gordon still the Chairman of the House’s judiciary committee?
Why wasn’t he sacked when he joined the Democrats on the Committee to vote to kill the Fetal Life Protection Act?
Why are Weyler’s words disqualifying, yet abortion-on-demand-at-any-time-for-any-reason-Gordon’s actions are not?
It is difficult .. perhaps impossible … not to conclude that continuing to push the FALSE narrative that COVID is a deadly disease from which Sun-King Sununu saved us is a priority for the NHGOP, but protecting unborn babies is not.
