The New Taliban are looking more and more like the old Taliban. Sure, there was some speculation about a more modern version of their nineties counterparts, but neither the Quran nor Sharia has changed in their minds, so the outcome was always predictable.
The Taliban hanged a dead body from a crane parked in a city square in Afghanistan on Saturday in a gruesome display that signaled the hard-line movement’s return to some of its brutal tactics of the past.
The official line is that four individuals were engaged in a kidnapping when Taliban “police” intervened, killing all four. As likely a story as any, I suppose.
The Taliban have also said there will be executions and other measures like the chopping off of hands.

“Everyone criticized us for the punishments in the stadium, but we have never said anything about their laws and their punishments,” Turabi told The Associated Press, speaking in Kabul. “No one will tell us what our laws should be. We will follow Islam and we will make our laws on the Quran.”
Never? So, there is no pursuit of some global Ummah, and you are not compelled by Islam to cleanse the world of infidels, including burning it all to achieve that end. I’ve heard that a few times and your history is one long jihad to spread the word of The Prophet by the sword.
That’s your interpretation of Islam, the Quran, and Sharia. That is who the Taliban are and what they intend.
There will be terror and terrorism because you do not condone the laws and punishments of other cultures and faiths.
You kidnapped an entire country to that end, and Joe Biden rewarded you with hostages and military equipment.
And I have to wonder if “the kidnapping” was actually some effort to get people out of the country or was there a kidnapping at all? The Taliban is sticking to its story and its tactics. “The aim of this action is to alert all criminals that they are not safe.”
Anyone who dares to exist outside the boundaries of Sharia is not safe. This is especially true for the unknown number of Americans and Afghans who assisted them still inside the country.
At least the ones who haven’t been “kidnapped” yet.
