Notable Quote – When you get down to the root of the matter, Custom reigns supreme

Reformatted just a bit as our current writing customs want shorter sentences:

Had they [ancient Roman legal theorists] studied the facts of consciousness, and learned that conduct was necessarily exhibited in the form of habit and custom.  They would have seen that the origin of law rested in a self-governing principle of society (i.e., Customs and norms).

If they had carefully scrutinised the methods of the judicial tribunals, they would have seen that it [sic] consisted in the study of conduct and its consequences with the view of determining what was in accordance with custom or fair expectation, and that such study was simply the exercise of our ordinary reasoning powers upon the subject of conduct. In this way they would have reached the enlightening conclusion that law was tantamount to custom.

James Coolidge Carter (Law: Its Origin, Growth and Function)

Actual quote:

Had they [ancient Roman legal theorists] studied the facts of consciousness, and learned that conduct was necessarily exhibited in the form of habit and custom, they would have seen that the origin of law rested in a self-governing principle of society; and if they had carefully scrutinised the methods of the judicial tribunals, they would have seen that it [sic] consisted in the study of conduct and its consequences with the view of determining what was in accordance with custom or fair expectation, and that such study was simply the exercise of our ordinary reasoning powers upon the subject of conduct; in this way they would have reached the enlightening conclusion that law was tantamount to custom.

And this is one of the reasons why so many of us feel adrift on today’s society. It’s almost as if the Left has read this passage and thought “Hey, if we want to change Society to be in OUR model (our Utopia), we have to change the Laws. How to change the Laws?

Change the Customs first. Turn the norms upside down and then claim they have always been this new way or, at least, claim that the old norms are bad. The phrase “what used to be good and right is now bad and wrong” is often on the lips of those that are watching us being forced to change against our will (and most, having only a vague idea of what is going on, are quite disturbed and just want it to stop).

It is part of a larger plan and that plan is vehemently being put into place before enough of us say “NO!”.

We are being “Dense Packed” at every turn – changes in norms and then the new laws to solidify those norms are being passes with rapidity such that these changes cannot be undone because the Left will bring out it’s soiled trope of “IT’S SETTLED LAW!” while never admitting that they had changed it. They will, as they are already doing, will accuse  our side of doing what they already did. It is the Societal version of a corporate takeover except that is only of a given company – they are trying to do it to our entire Society.

So, are you going to let them?
