Where Is the Glory That Once Was America?

An increasing number of Americans are growing suspicious of the path we are on. While the Trump presidency resulted in record-setting employment numbers, growth, and prosperity – after Obama told us we’d never see that again – the Bidenistas have robbed us of that gift in more ways than one.

Through power grabs and policy, this diminution appears deliberate. Free will, perseverance, determination, and innate ability must bow before the might of the government. Not the root but a branch grown from seed planted decades ago and left unpruned, more so in the past decade than any other.

Our Gardner, Donald Trump, was tossed out of paradise by a world that desperately wants America to fail, led by a political party (democrats) who hungers to rule over its ruin. The people, faced with what appears to be a last final effort to get more than our toes of the ledge, are stirring.

Trump showed us how we could come back, and our own government turned against him.

How did we get here, who is to blame, and what do we do?  The answer is uncomfortable. We did this, or at the very least, we let it happen. You can never truly cast the serpent from the garden but in our comforts, we have allowed it to breed and until its vial purpose has poisoned nearly everything.

Don Feder, writing at Frontpage Mag, has an excellent article that puts this quandary into perspective. The summation of his is in my headline, derived from this line in the piece.  “But where is the glory that once was Rome?”

Where, indeed.

America has moved from a relatively free economy to socialism – which has worked so well nowhere in the world. We’ve gone from a republican government guided by a constitution to a regime of revolving elites. We have less freedom with each passing year.

Like a signpost to the coming reign of terror, the cancel culture is everywhere. We’ve traded the American Revolution for the Cultural Revolution.

The pathetic creature in the White House is an empty vessel filled by his handlers. At the G-7 Summit, Dr. Jill had to lead him like a child.

Feder’s remarks are both troubling and inspiring.

Nations too have seasons. Imagine a Roman of the 2nd. century contemplating an empire that stretched from Britain to the Near East, thinking: This will endure forever.

Forever was about 500 years, give or take.

And inspiring.

During Britain’s darkest hour, when its professional army was trapped at Dunkirk and a German invasion seemed imminent, Churchill reminded his countrymen, “Nations that go down fighting rise again, and those that surrender tamely are finished.”

The same might be said of causes. If we let America slip through our fingers, if we lose without a fight, what will posterity say of us?

Please read it, and then read this. It’s Dylan Thomas.

“Do not go gentle into that good night.”

The left must overreach to achieve their desired end. To awaken a beast to revolution. To riot, and fight, and break down its own society. To disrupt its communities while leaving them no other course for redress.

To curse the darkness and reach to the left, to the tyrants who brought this upon us, in search of light. A false light.

The truth is that you do not need them. You can make your own light. You can join others to shine your lights brightly upon the path and choose another. Local officials still answer to you. County and state officials make policy in response to your whims. And the Federal government has no power without the states.

Where is the glory that once was America?  It is still your birthright. It resides in each of you, and the Left knows this. It is why they divide us by age, skin color, faith, class, gender, national origin, and politics. Not because we are bigots or racists or agists, but because divided, we may fall.

Our government has risen against us, torn asunder the constitutions ratified by our ancestors meant to limit them.

Do not give them what they want.

To quote Sen. Rand Paul (on COVID mandates), “We don’t have to accept the mandates, lockdowns, and harmful policies of the petty tyrants and feckless bureaucrats. We can simply say no, not again.”

Accept the call to civil disobedience. Not now, not ever. We want America back. We’ll start at our kitchen tables, School boards, town meetings, and state legislature, and we won’t stop until we’ve won her back.
