Take Jan Schmidt, David Meuse, Deb Stevens, and Debra Altschiller for examples:
It is easier to find people fit to govern themselves than people fit to govern others.
-Lord Acton (Essays in Religion, Politics, and Morality)
Not all people CAN govern themselves – or want to, as I have found. But most do. Yes, we all make mistakes in a myriad of ways over time but we end up with the lives we deserve given the choices we have made. Most of us do alright and we just want to be left alone by those in Government.
However, ANYONE that is listed in my Progressives and the Proper Role of Government – and Your Subservience to It post are those that PROVE that that they are unfit to govern others because they don’t want to govern, they want to Rule. Like these two “Rulers”:
- NH State Rep Kris Roberts (D): “Government has to protect us from our own stupidity.”
- NH State Rep Leigh Webb (D): “The role of government is to legislate behavior“
When Roberts says our own stupidity, he’s not talking about just a handful of folks, he’s talking about EVERYONE that isn’t him (and I’m certainly not sure about him, either). But Webb makes it clear and that isn’t governing – that’s Ruling as in the Divine Right of Kings.
However, those that espouse that Government withdraws and allows YOU to make your own decision, well, they certainly have potential.
