What I am paid, and what jobs I am will to do for that pay and under what circumstances, is none of your business. What others are paid, and what others are willing to do for what pay and under what circumstances is their business and no one else’s. As equal moral agents they are entitled to choose employment and negotiate terms of employment for themselves with other willing partners. And as proper persons they are entitled to make choices about their own paths in life without uninvited interference from others.
-James Otteson (Seven Deadly Economic Sins)
More and more, too many people want to put their noses into my business. And yours as well. As I’ve mentioned before, too many people have decided that only THEY have the knowledge and wherewhithal to understand personal contracts – we are too shallow, too stupid, and too supine to negotiate what we believe to be best for ourselves. Too much Government inteference can result in “benefits” that might be what is really to be desired by both parties being ruled out of bounds by someone clueless as to what those parties believe to be important.
In fact, they have no idea what is important to me just as I have no idea what is more important to you. Pay, insurance, paid schooling, sabbaticals, work at home, biz travel; everyone has their own risk levels for whatever the compensation part happens to be.
