NH’s Largest Teachers Union Opposes Mandatory Vaccination of Students and Staff

This is unexpected. The New Hampshire Chapter of the National Education Association (NEA) opposes a proposal at the national level to require vaccinations of teachers, staff, and students.

“NEA New Hampshire has always advocated for vaccinations to be available, but it really is being left up to the educator or the parents of the child to decide whether they want to get the vaccination or not,” chapter president Megan Tuttle said.

Unexpected, though I’m not clear if this is an empty gesture. It’s not as if unions have never been known to make political moves for effect. Oh, and they still support the CDC’s ridiculous guidelines.

The New Hampshire NEA represents 17,000 educators and staff in the state. They said they will continue to support Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines on masking, social distancing and safe ventilation in schools.

My guess is the NEA national will likely recommend vaccination which means the local gets to say one thing and do another.

Or, maybe, I’m just being cynical.
