Nashua Democrats Jan Schmidt and Deb Stevens Lie about Candidates for Nashua School Board

by

Standing up for what you believe in is a good thing. Having an opinion is also a good thing as long as you can back up your statements with proven facts. Pontificating is never a good thing.

Most of the time, political operatives in the two main political parties in our city, state, and nation are decent people who are just trying to make a difference in the lives of all citizens, even when we don’t agree with each other on policies and principles. As the adage goes, if we all thought alike, we’d be a boring bunch of people.

Unfortunately, some people go too far. And Nashua Democrats have a couple of doozies in their midst. Citizens beware. Two Nashua Democrats, both of whom are members of the NH House and one also is a member of the Nashua Board of Aldermen, recently attacked the reputation of two innocent women, two young mothers who have said they are considering running for the Nashua School Board. Based on their own set of fighting rules, these Democrats made false claims that the young women were involved with a white supremacist group.

Without any evidence whatsoever, the two Democrats pounced on their prey, claiming that the two possible BOE candidates MUST have known the stranger wearing a Proud Boys t-shirt who had stepped into a photograph with them.

Be the first amongst you who have had a stranger ‘photobomb’ a photo with you in it, cast the first stone.

The two Democrats didn’t care about the truth. Armed with nothing but their own typical knee-jerk reactions, they cast their stones. And then some. They headed straight to social media with their deceitful smear campaign against the two young mothers.

What are Democrats afraid of? People with common sense joining the School Board? People, who want to make a difference in the lives of their children and their neighbors’ children? Do they see the young mothers as competition? It appears easier for Democrats to damage other peoples’ reputations by false accusations than run on their own set of principles. Attacks are never the answer.

This is political demagoguery against anyone who does not think like them. Their social media blitz display was disgusting and unnecessary. The two Democrats, acting in lockstep with their party, capitalized on the racist theme to bring down possible opponents with their unfounded insinuations.

Quite frankly, it shows their level of low self-esteem.  Is this the meme of Nashua Democrats? Are they so afraid of any opposition that they resort to exploitation in appealing to the prejudices of ordinary people? If so, it is spiteful and deplorable. And, dare I say, it is an act of gross moral turpitude.

We need to look at the values of the people who govern our city and what they bring to the table. Is their judgment sound? Are their own principles and standards above reproach?

Instead of focusing attention on baseless attacks, we should focus our energy on the good people who care about our city. Candidates who we think can have a significant effect on our city. Let us look at each candidate and base our decision on the content of their character and how they can make a difference.

Let us not discourage good people from participating in public affairs simply because they might have different political viewpoints.

We need candidates who are truly interested in making Nashua a better place to live.

Finally, please know that any disrespectful or hateful responses to this column will be considered out of bounds and unimportant. The pompous can’t hide from their ignorance.
