Hobbyists With no Budget Continue to Dominate Political Bandwidth in NH

One of the most amazing things about our continued dominance in Alexa Rank across New Hampshire is the absence of a payroll. Authors work for free, no budget, no ad managers, or salespeople—just a few folks with some ideas on the internet.

We do not buy any ads anywhere to promote this site. Our automated ad revenue is not huge, and between that and donations, we keep the fires burning. Pay the fees to maintain the site and server and a few bucks to keep the plugins and background stuff up to date.

Few of the “competitors” for your digital affections are in the same boat. Most buy ads or promote their pages online, and most have staff and payroll.

So how are we dominating the political bandwidth?

We own the niche. Few, if any, cover the stories or angles we cover. There is a huge audience unattended, and we are working hard to get them here and keep them – with your help. None of this success is possible without readers who come back and share our content or the folks who send us links, tips, or op-eds.

So, again, thank you. And – we appear to have survived our exit from Facebook. Yes, the page is still there, but we do not update it and have no plans to share on that platform until – if ever – things change. And no, we are not waiting for that to happen. We have moved on.

In the meantime, more people in New Hampshire (and across the nation) are looking for our take who do not yet know we are here. We appreciate your dedication to us and sharing our news and opinion, but we have more work.

These numbers continue to be strong. We’ve been on top of this list all year. And we’ve been getting picked up by content aggregators around the country more often, sharing your stories about New Hampshire news and politics. But we can do better and intend to try, even without a payroll, or a budget or someone paid to advertise us.

We’re looking to open a few more MicroGroks very soon, so stay tuned for that.

And yes, we’d like to one day make enough money to pay the website bills and have some leftover for writers, but that was never why we did it, and maybe that’s the secret ingredient.

Maybe.

Here are the latest Alex Rank numbers for our list of digital print news/media sites in New Hampshire.
