Steve has a must-read post up about a rant by New Hampshire’s selfie-obsessed Sun King Chris I-Am-The-Constitution Sununu in which, using Steve’s words, Sununu declares that:
A few thoughts to add to Steve’s excellent post. But, first, to be clear (as those of you who regularly read my posts already know) I have as little use for corporate-libertarians … “build your own Facebook,” “don’t want to be indoctrinated in CRT, then find a new job,” blah, blah, blah … as I do for our Republican-In-Name-Only Sun-King. With that said, in no particular order:
HYPOCRISY THAT WOULD MAKE A COMMUNIST BLUSH: Sun-King’s message is that the GOP needs to be united in 2022. What he really means is that America-First Republicans (Sun-King calls them “libertarians”) need to shut up and know their role … which is to elect America-Last Republicans. But where was this message of unity from 2017 – 2021. More specifically, when did Sun-King ever tell his NeverTrump cronies … such as Tommy Rath and Jimmy Merrill … to get over it, shut up and support Trump? … NEVER …. It is not “unity” that Sun-King demands. It is total, unquestioning fealty.
THE IRONY IS STRONG WITH THESE ONES: The NeverTrump GOP and the Left constantly told us that Trump’s supporters were essentially cultists … that they were following the so-called “strong man” and knew little about and cared even less about policy matters. The charge is absurd. Trump’s policies … for example, border security, stopping the endless wars, energy independence, no nukes for Iran … were crystal clear and were the reason he won the GOP primary and the Presidency. Yet here we have Sun-King Sununu sununusplaining to us that being a good Republican means supporting whatever he supports. Got it? You are a cultist if you support Trump because you want border security … but you are a good Republican if you support Sun-King Sununu despite Sun-King’s policy positions having as much and arguably more in common with the Democrat Party than with America-First Republicans.
HISTORY TENDS TO REPEAT ITSELF … DON’T … DON’T … DON’T … JUST VOTE REPUBLICAN IN 2022: Remember the Tea Party wave in 2010? Except all it accomplished was to make John Boehner … the epitome of corporate-Republicanism … the Speaker of the House. As Speaker, Boehner could have defunded Obamacare. He didn’t because corporate-Republicans … Jeb Bradley and Sun-King Sununu, for example … support Obamacare. The Tea Party wave in 2010 also elected a certain Kelly Ayotte to the United States Senate , who promptly ditched all her campaign promises and spent the next six years traveling the globe with forever-war proponents John McCain and Lindsay Graham telling us how what was wrong with the world was that America was not fighting enough wars. Sun-King Sununu and his ilk would love you to make the same mistake in 2022 … “unify” by voting for everyone running as a Republican regardless of whether the person is an America-First or an America-Last Republican. DON’T DO IT … replacing Pelosi and Schumer with McCarthy and McConnell accomplishes nothing except empowering the donor/pundit class that despise rank-and-file America-First Republican voters and probably assuring the Communists retain the Presidency in 2024.
