The NH State Senate (like most Senates) has never been a thing built to buck expectations. It is a lazy, sloppy, secretive cabal of people (few if any roll calls), some of whom were once considered reliable pro-liberty activists.

A well that poisons almost everyone who stops there to drink.
Instead of challenging or encourage its Republican Governor to lean more toward liberty or persuade him to protect the people’s rights, they go out of their way to protect him at the expense of us.
They are, after all, like him, mostly Republican. Northeastern Republican. A species of coward surrounded by bold leftists and media Rasputins, leaping policy rivers at the slightest chance while they (these Republicans) cower at the edge, reluctant to even dip in a toe.
Their interests appear more focused, not on New Hampshire’s political future but Chris Sununu’s.
Yes, they appear to be good on guns and maybe even taxes and spending, and those are important. But to do one while deliberately undermining the culture needed to sustain the true nature of property and rights – to deliberately rot out the foundation those ideas need to stand.
Their latest failure can be summed up by Dr. Karlyn Borysenko (who used to be a Democrat). [emphasis in original]
Today, the Republican-controlled Senate Finance Committee, under the “unofficial” direction of Republican governor Chris Sununu, gutted the bill, passing an amendment for a watered-down version of it that removed all the major provisions.
Among the provisions removed was a prohibition on teaching that America is a fundamentally racist country, and that hard work is white supremacy.
I’m going to say that again: A Republican governor – one that is being backed by the entire establishment for a Senate run – supports teaching that America is a fundamentally racist country.
One of the things that lead her to walk away was the insanity of Critical Race Theory. She left the LEFT looking for shelter in more sensible thinking. Better ideas. A party that would stand up for New Hampshire, America, equality, and a true eye toward eliminating discrimination.
Instead, she ran head-long into Republicans like Jeb Bradley, Chuck Morse, and Chris Sununu.
She calls them cowards and more (read here – it’s worth the ride). She is not wrong.
You are cowards, hiding behind a patina of support for the second amendment and some notion of fiscal discipline. Smiling at your eyes whole, taking out our legs.
All I can truly say, after 13 years of “paying attention,” is I’m not surprised.
The only time you ever pretend to be principled is for show; knowing a Democrat government will protect your charade with a veto over which you can squawk and preen.
We give you a Republican and rather than bend him to principle or fight for what’s right, you cave because it’s in his best interests.
We didn’t elect you to help him; we elected you to protect us from the likes of him.
Pretenders who pander for higher office at the expense of their own platform and a Constitution, you were all sworn to protect and defend from all threats, even those named Sununu.
History sets before us tests. Chris Sununu had the opportunity to shine but failed miserably, and the NH Senate appears poised to copy from his “paper.”
We will, )not happily but dutifully), document the disaster for posterity, again, and work to undo the damage. Unlike you, we put principle before politics.
You should try it sometime.
