Might This Explain Gracie Gato? “Over 50% Of Liberal, White Women Under 30 Have A Mental Health Issue. Are We Worried Yet?”

And if 50% under 30 are in trouble, there’s a fair chance that those older may have issues as well?  I dunno – I’m not a psychologist and I don’t play one here on the ‘Grok. The opening paragraph, though, sums it up pretty well:

A 2020 Pew Research study reveals that over half of white, liberal women have been diagnosed with a mental health condition at some point. Does this mean there’s a correlation between progressive ideas and mental health?

Now, if I wanted this to be a “Quick Thought”, I’d leave it at that. But, I can’t – after all, Grace Gato still hasn’t gotten the message that I’m not obsessed with HER but that she’s a perfect Object Lesson example about Progressivism – and within that Progressive / Racism ideology, she lashes out at many. Never realizing that she may be the problem but it seems that all her problems are laid at the feet of others – and having had to deal with the issues of TMEW, the Eldest, and the Youngest, I’m familiar with the territory / tactics first hand. While she’s all about her ethnology, I’m more interested in that second sentence above.

It’s a common tactic of the politically charged on either side (and normally perceived as a cheap one at that) to take the particular adherents of an ideology and equate that diehard worship to mental illness.

Conservatives label younger liberal generations as snowflakes or as having Trump derangement syndrome if they didn’t like the past president; liberals and progressives label right-leaning individuals or conservatives as racists, bigots, misogynists, etc. Resorting to this type of lowbrow behavior might once have been seen as an excuse not to address the actual issues or beliefs at hand, but now ad hominem attacks are more common than not.

I’m looking at the “intensity” of who calls what – what is worse and more emotionally laden – “snowflakes or as having Trump derangement syndrome” or “racists, bigots, misogynists”? Which one is more said in more of a just – and which set are screamed out in anger? Which set gets one side laughing (or at least with a smile on the face) and which evokes a rage or…almost a mental breakdown?  Which is meant more as ridicule versus a means to hurt? I think the latter set – and that set is also used to “cull” someone from the rest of Society as in “worst of the worst – don’t associate with them or YOU are the racist, bigot, and misogynist as well.

Who does that kind of thing against someone for simply having different political, philosophical, or world views?

Only the Left – the Progressives. The piece continues to prove my point:

But what if what was once a cheap shot or a personal insult has actually been found to bear scientific correlation between the individuals who hold progressive ideologies and an increased risk of mental illness? That’s exactly what Pew Research has found — and all politics aside, the shocking diagnosis of over 50% of liberal women with some form of mental health medical diagnosis is a public health concern that no one seems to be discussing, let alone taking seriously.

We on the Right have been “discussing” this for decades even as it seems it is getting worse. I note that I’ve been using the word “unhinged” more often when describing the Left, especially at the acts of almost absolute loss of control when some Progressives get wound up.

I’m going to skip over some important stuff from that post and go right to the data:

If you accept the premise of the study, the more Conservative one is (in general), the more “moderate” their behavior or mindset. I’ll go there – want to be sane? Being a Conservative helps (or so the data says). And there is more there – go read it. And the post does kind of wrap things up in a bow (emphasis mine):

But at the heart of the matter is this: Progressivism is an ideology that supposedly demands equality for all, and one that keeps score to an exhausting degree. The privilege between social classes, between races, between men and women, between religious and non-religious, and more, all have to be constantly monitored, and “inequality” has to be exposed for the purposes of “accountability.” That kind of behavior isn’t just unrealistic, it’s unsustainable. In all honesty, it’s understandable that anxiety and depression thrive in these kinds of environments when we’re focusing on every minute, problematic issue in our world and not able to take comprehensive, productive action to solve all these problems.

There’s also the unrelenting focus on oppression, verbal violence, and micro-aggressions. We know that building resiliency against hardship is the best weapon against depression and anxiety, yet progressive ideology forces its followers to wallow in feelings of helplessness and victimhood. Instead of empowering women and minorities with self-knowledge, strength of character, and resilience to hardship, progressivism encourages victims to stay in a place of fear and helplessness.

So here’s my suggestion: Just let it go. It seems that they never learned the phrase “you can’t fix everything or everyone” so they try to do so, setting off that cascade. And you can’t fix people if they don’t want to be fixed (learned that lesson decades ago). And even more important – why is it up to you to demand that “fixed” is a single purpose effort in demanding that everyone else thinks and believes like you? That’s the essence of Progressivism – demanding a monoculture of thought.

To which I simply say “No” – and that drive certain other people nuts. Too bad. And then everything loops back in on those folks all over again – a self-defeating downward spiraling loop.

Conservatives don’t dwell on politics and the like all the time. Not even a lot of the time (exception made, of course, for we here at GraniteGrok where we DO pay a lot of attention to it because Progressives just won’t leave you and me alone. We just want to concentrate on our families, friends, and careers. If they did, we wouldn’t have to worry about the Gracie Gatos, the Jan Schmidts, the Liz McConnells, the Wendy Thomases, the Debra Alschillers, the Katherine Rogers and the like. But they won’t stop so we at GraniteGrok (your early warning system) won’t either. I think that is one of the causes why we are happier – we don’t dwell on the negative as much, we don’t prioritize it as much. Progressives can’t seem to dial it back or just back off.

Go do something else – get out of your own self-induced swamp that is, if you take the article seriously, making you nuts. Literally. It’s not your job to change everyone, even if you are a Socialist Missionary (h/t: Nitzkahon).

And if their activities and outlooks aren’t making them nuts, let’s flip that the other way – is it because they are already nuts that they glom onto Progressivism because it reinforces and validates their mental illnesses?  Kinda seems so, based on the article. But again, I’m no psychologist (although I did once take a bio-psychology class back in college – that count for anything?).

Why else is the impulse in Progressives exist, like that of many of the mentally deranged, to control everyone else around them (or better put, ANYONE)?

I guess the Object Lesson here is to stop always looking at others and start looking inward instead. It can never be a good thing to think you’re happy when you’re really in a rage all the time.
