The complete collapse of curiosity and anti-establishment ‘ethics’ (for lack of a better term) is one of the watershed moments in hippie history. They grew up and became the establishment with the help of true Marxists and turned anti-establishment chic into doing you as you are told or else chic.
It used to be patriotic to question everything. Now, if you dare, they only come for your head on a digital platter, if you are lucky.
One of the icons of the 60s (and beyond), Eric Clapton, had some thoughts about this after getting the Jab and suffering a long series of debilitating side-effects. A guy who fashioned himself as disinclined to trust the people in power, he acquiesced, suffered, and is now being introspective about the experience and how he found a path back to his roots.

I felt like a veil had been lifted, that I was no longer alone, that it was okay, in fact essential, to hold on to my intuition and follow my heart…
I continue to tread the path of passive rebellion and try to tow the line in order to be able to actively love my family, but it’s hard to bite my tongue with what I now know…
I’ve recorded and will post here another song by Van called “The Rebels” it’s not aggressive or provocative, it just asks;

Hiding behind their computer screens

I’ve been a rebel all my life, against tyranny and arrogant authority, which is what we have now, but I also crave fellowship, compassion and love, and that I find here…
I believe with these things we can prevail.
I like his optimism because I share it, not so much regarding the need to triumph politically (defend free speech, individual rights, etc.) but to prevail mentally. They can and will try to take anything and everything from us. Trick us, intimidate us, use peer pressure, anything to get us to abandon our principles or what undergirds them.
That Devil will come at you from every direction and may even try to burn everything down around you.
When this happens, to quote Coleman in the Movie Trading Places, “Just be yourself, sir. Whatever happens, they can’t take that away from you.”
The Left’s greatest lie is that it is anti-establishment. A movement for the lower class, downtrodden, fringe elements. It is anything but that. They are the establishment manipulating and dividing people and then filling the gaps they create with their power and influence until there is no room for you or anything that actually makes you different or special.
They will call you different things but dress you all ideologically in Mao Suites. Refusing to ‘dress’ invites consequences we can already see from the cancel culture.
