The City of Nashua’s Mayor is Deceitful

The City of Nashua’s mayor is deceitful.  He states that the City of Nashua is the most transparent city in New Hampshire, which is simply not true.

Nashua’s mayor makes deals that he does not want the Nashua taxpayers to find out about. The following happened at the Board of Aldermen meeting of October 27, 2020:

Problem was that the resolution never mentioned how much money the Nashua taxpayers’ would lose in property taxes. However, with the new pilot that the mayor made with Pennichuck, they would NOT BE LIABLE FOR MUNICIPAL REAL ESTATES TAXES, and that hits Nashua taxpayers’ in their pockets.

In reviewing the General Fund – Detail Revenue Report, I noticed that on June 30, 2020, the balance for the Pilot Account was $154,935.00 (see below), and the January 31, 2021 balance for the Pilot Account was $405,788.00 (see below).  That is a total of $560,723.00, and I think that the Nashua Residents should be able to find out what properties are affecting this account.

I did a Right To Know letter to Mr. Bolton, Corporate Attorney for the City of Nashua.  Please note what I received back from Mr. Bolton legal team:

As any Nashua residents can see, the City of Nashua is unwilling to give out any information that would shed light on how these Pilots/Payments in Lieu of Taxes are handled.

It is the right of the Nashua residents to understand what our city officials are doing with our tax dollars.

I asked one financial officer, and he stated that he did not know anything about it but would check and get back to me; however, I am still waiting.

I talked to someone else who had knowledge about the pilots and was advised to do a Right To Know request; however, the Legal Office came back and stated they have searched their files and have not found any documents matching the above description.

These actions should not be allowed by city officials.  The Nashua residents have a right to know what is happening in city hall.
