Weaponized Public Health

by

Remember when President Trump said there may have been some promise in a cheap drug with a long use history?

Do you remember hydroxychloroquine (HCQ)? We saw that the pandemic would not be about “following the science.”  We saw how it was not best to get through it. Instead, we learned whose opinion was politically correct. We also learned a lot about censorship and silencing.

The media warned incessantly about the dangers of hydroxychloroquine. This led some doctors to publicly refuse it to their patients even on a trial basis. Mine did and in the same conversation, the physician requested I sign a DNR. Yes, discussing things pointedly may come more easily to me than to some.

Well, guess what? Just this month, the American Journal of Medicine published an article highlighting HCQ as a treatment in fighting COVID-19. Where are the rancor and the controversy? Are you hearing anything about this from the media? Politi-virus hypocrisy has been running rampant for a year.

Right on schedule, power shifted in Washington, so did the tone of the headlines. The day before the Biden inauguration NPR posted an article with the headline “As Death Rate Accelerates, U.S. Records 400,000 Lives Lost To The Coronavirus.”

The day after the inauguration, its headline on the virus read, “Current, Deadly U.S. Coronavirus Surge Has Peaked.”

The World Health Organization (WHO) also joined in on the great 180-degree flip. Just one hour after Biden was sworn into office. The WHO issued a notice warning on COVID-19 PCR testing sensitivity thresholds. Suddenly, relying on a PCR test as a diagnostic was wrong.

We knew this the entire time. PCR tests are not meant to be a sole diagnostic test. They are a confirmatory measure. The high sensitivity of testing has been fully known. It was likely used to inflate the threat of the virus. Politi-virus hypocrisy has been running rampant for a year.

There’s lots of responsibility that was shirked

Local officials are joining the new narrative as well. In the lead-up to the inauguration, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said New York must start to reopen. Under Trump he was one of the loudest advocates for lockdowns. Gov. Gavin Newsom is lifting California’s stay at home order. This comes despite low hospital ICU capacity.

The governor of Kansas has lowered the testing cycle threshold from 42 to 35. Effectively this makes it harder to increase the tally of positive tests. The anti-Trump Republican governor of Maryland is changing his tune on school closures. The same is true of local officials in Chicago.

Restrictions on bars and restaurants are starting to ease. The day after the inauguration, the Chicago made an announcement. He is rescinding curfews and stay-at-home advisories. The mayor of D.C. also changed her position two days after the inauguration. Suddenly it is safe to eat and drink indoors, despite an increase in the number of cases. Shocking, right?

Weaponized public health

Yes, there is a virus. But the weaponization of this virus for political purpose should not, will not be soon forgotten. Many of us who push back on seemingly innocuous mask mandates. For us, it’s not for the mask itself, but because the government is using this all as a tool of tyranny.

Those responsible for the economic devastation must face accountability at the ballot box. They must remain in the public memory. We must remember them for every shuttered business, stunted education, debilitating mental illness developed, missed cancer diagnosis, deferred cardiac treatment and livelihood lost. Justice demands it.
