This Needs Another Reading Before the NH GOP Annual Meeting on Saturday

Thumb on the scale

Back in 2013, I wrote sarcastically that, “We are SO Thankful that Jennifer Horn is the NH GOP Chair!” Yes, even seven years ago her “tires” were falling off the rims. Now it’s 2021 and guess what? That conversation from seven years ago still has legs.

And it is a message we need today, now.

Especially since I am seeing a repeat of what Papa Smurf and the NH GOP did to the TEA Party a decade ago. (They trashed it alongside the Democrats).

No, today’s fiascos aren’t about the Principles of the T.E.A. Party (can you put the words to the acronym) but it is about erasing Trump and his supporters from the RepublicanParty.

To do so the NH GOP has decided that it doesn’t even have to follow its own ByLaws at a “County Committee” voting session:

  1. The Delegates in County and City Committees voting for those to be NH GOP Committee members
  2. Those NH GOP Committee members voting for their County and City Committee Officials (Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer)

It seems that the NH GOP has really ticked off a number of these organizations – and some of the “why aren’t they following their own Rules” folks are coming to us.

Why not, you should be asking right about now? Well, first that little conversation from that 2013 post about the now politically homeless JHo (formerly known as Jennifer Horn):

Yet, some in the Party can’t under stand, grok it, and then act upon it.    I tried to explain this to a female Republican of some note a bit ago:

Me: there are Republicans out there they are no longer voting nor donating to the Party.  They’ve quit.

She: Well, why ARE they doing that??  Don’t they realize that this will allow Democrats to be elected?

MeThey no longer care

She: WHY don’t they care?  Don’t they understand what this means for implemented policy, they are allowing Democrats to win??

Me: They realize that.  They don’t care anymore.

She: They HAVE to care – Democrats will win if they just stay home.  Don’t they realize that?

MeYou’re not listening to me, and haven’t been for a while.  You have made them not care.  Why SHOULD they care when Republicans do things at cross-purposes to what they say they stand for?  Why should they support candidates that, in the end, don’t support their beliefs?  When they don’t see their beliefs being advanced?

She: But Democrats will win?!?!?!

MeNow you’re making me not care much.  Whether you like it or not, whether you want to admit it or not (and I think you are at the point where you don’t want to SEE what they are saying), these people exist. They are dropping out, and you can’t seem face reality even when I put it in your face.

That’s right -> Now you’re making me not care much. Again. It’s that old Consistency and Trust deal again. At this important time, when leadership is being chosen, there are a lot of pissed off folks right now. Belknap County, Grafton County, Sullivan County…and there are more. They are turning to us for help and to get their message out. I’ve already blogged about the absolutely horrendous “nomination” speech given by Alan Glassman in trying to save his butt as Belknap Chair (yeah, go take a listen). Now he wants to have control of the NH GOP checkbook as Treasurer (that’s a hint, folks).

Grafton County – GraniteGrok has the full deal on what happened – and what should have happened instead. We’ll be talking about this for a while. A small smidge: when the NH GOP leadership won’t enforce it’s own ByLaws on how voting should happen (like the basics – NOTICING the meeting correctly and sending those green little cards to ALL of the delegates; you know, simple stuff, right?), when they refuse to honor the ByLaws of a given Committee when some in Grafton said “this isn’t right” and held a duly noticed meeting in a PHYSICAL LOCATION mandated by its ByLaws, and when it now wants to “compromise” on the results?

And I’ll add this – new folks, registered Republicans that hadn’t been coming to the meetings, came to that second meeting and NOW are learning that the Rules they believe were sacrosanct, they BELIEVED they existed for a purpose and to be followed? And had decided that NOW they should start taking an interest in what they thought was the right thing to do?

Yeah – ticked off. You know about that hashtag #WALKAWAY? Sure thing, bozos! That was originally meant to describe a movement of people saying that the Democrats had taken them for granted way too long and they were moving on.

Guess what the message is being sent out by the NH GOP?  This quote that was given to me kinda sends a message to those that wanted it done the right way: “This is coming from the top – they will CRUSH you”. And Brian Gould, Esq. sent out a letter as well – kinda puts an emphasis to the quote.

You know, I was at the Belknap County meeting BECAUSE participants believed that the voting wasn’t going to be open and transparent. Was the proclamation to the NH GOP officials that were running the voting that GraniteGrok was there as a neutral observer make a difference in that voting. To be honest, I really hope it didn’t. But hearing from other counties, maybe it did – who knows?

Anyways, both Steve and I have a lot from the Grafton folks and we’ll be putting it up (just got it today).

Hey, you other Counties? We still have some Big Flashlights that are looking for good use (if you’ve a mind to use’em)…

Anyways, it’s getting late (2:30am) so we’ll be writing some more tomorrow.
