I Do Not Think That “Entitled” Means What You Think, Minority Leader Renny Cushing

by

21 – 9 = 12 while 21-10 = 11. So House Democrat Renny Cushing is trying to stroke out over 1 Democrat on the NH House Finance Committee (if you can’t tell, there are 21 seats)?  And no, Kevin Landrigan, Life isn’t run by percentages (e.g., quotas – just look at the NBA and NFL if you need to verify that).

And why have you forgotten how the Democrats cut the Republicans out during the WuFlu Rules before Veto Day? Reformatted, emphasis mine:

From the UL:

House Democratic Leader Renny Cushing of Hampton had his first serious explosion at the powers that be last week after learning how acting Speaker Sherman Packard, R-Londonderry, had divvied up membership on House policy committees.

Some quick math: cWith Hinch’s passing, Republicans have 212 members in the House, for a 53.1% majority. Democrats, with 187 members, make up 46.9% of the membership. So when Packard decided to give his party 57% of the seats (12) on the important House Finance Committee, Cushing blasted off. Strictly by the numbers, Democrats should have 10 members (9.8 rounded up) of the 21 on the panel.

Standard math practice is to round up on the half point (e.g., 9.5 does go to 10) but we’re dealing with Politics and if nothing else, the Democrats this past session made it clear that they were out to win. And why not, with hyper-partisanship now rampart everywhere? So WHAT that Sherm Packard decided to round down? Not standard but unless you can tell the rest of us how to get 0.8 of a person, rounding up or down one person is well within norms.

And as your Lightbringer, Obama, once said “I won”. So did the Republicans and so did (inadvertently) Packard. Your side gave no quarter – why should the Republicans now that they are finally starting to learn how to fight back?

“This is yet another disheartening example of House Republicans attempting to shut Democrats out of the process,” Cushing said. Later he added, “If the Finance Committee is to consist of 21 members, Democrats are entitled to 10 seats on the committee.

There’s that word again: “entitled”. One of the most overused in American English and certainly in American Politics – Left side, of course. EVERYONE is entitled to something (or many somethings) if you are of the Democrat / Socialist / Progressive nature – and in almost all cases, those somethings come out of Conservative hides. Sorry, “entitled” was not a value on which our country was founded. Sure, entitled to Rights but not to “stuff” and certainly not over 0.2 person.

If this is a hill that the Democrat are willing to die on, what won’t they declare to be the same? The idea is to gain the upper rhetorical hand in all things this session.

Get over yourselves.

The Republican Party is trying to say that 2+2=4 except for this one time, when 2+2=5.”  Cushing noted the last time the GOP ran the House, Finance had 26 members.

Unless it is 21 instead of 26, as you pointed out, right Renny? And as I have pointed out before, often the Progressives have tried to make our side believe that 2+2=5 (e.g., like mature boys calling themselves girls to easily outcompete most girls in female sports). Sorry, that lame argument isn’t carrying much weight.

And of course, if Packard want to change the number on the committee, wasn’t he entitled elected to do so, Renny? Are you willing to drop another 2+2=5 sleight of definition and drop the facade that “common-sense” really is a way to avoid “infringed” when it comes to your side’s “by any means possible” in restricting our rights to keep and bear arms (contra both the US and NH Constitutions)? Or that people-who-are-citizens-of-another-Country should be given all of the Rights and Privileges of, you know, real NH citizens? Like voting (which would also include people-who-are-citizens-of-other-States)?

It’s almost like Landrigan is advocating for the poor, poor Demcorats that got rounded down:

The partisan division on committees wasn’t consistent, with Democrats receiving a smaller percentage on this critical committee than on any other. The House Public Works and Highways Committee, which puts together the two-year capital budget, has 12 Republicans and 11 Democrats. The House Ways and Means Committee, which will craft any tax cut bills, has 13 Republicans and 11 Democrats.

The Senate often has ignored the math in its committee assignments. Democrats have 10 members — or 41.7% — in the 24-member upper chamber but two of seven spots (29%) on the seven member Senate Finance Committee.

Elections have consequences, so we’ve been told. And it seems you like it as well as Cushing does.
