11 Million Illegal Aliens to be Amnestied … Happy, Biden- Republicans?

From the Los Angeles Times:

During his first days in office, President-elect Joe Biden plans to send a groundbreaking legislative package to Congress to address the long-elusive goal of immigration reform, including what’s certain to be a controversial centerpiece: a pathway to citizenship for an estimated 11 million immigrants who are in the country without legal status, according to immigrant rights activists in communication with the Biden-Harris transition team. …

In a significant departure from many previous immigration bills passed under both Democratic and Republican administrations, the proposed legislation would not contain any provisions directly linking an expansion of immigration with stepped-up enforcement and security measures, …

Under Biden’s plan, immigrants would become eligible for legal permanent residence after five years and for U.S. citizenship after an additional three years — a faster path to citizenship than in previous immigration bills.

I would count on this happening. Paraphrasing something I posted yesterday … Unlike the GOP, Democrats keep their promises and use power.

I expect a significant number of Senate GOP to sign on in return for some totally meaningless “concessions” on border security because open-borders has been a goal of the Koch organization and while GOP may not be responsive to their voters they bend over backwards for the big donors.

This will mean the GOP will be a permanent minority within five years.

Such a small price to pay for not having any more “mean tweets” from Donald Trump.

The most aggravating aspect of this is that the Biden-Republicans will disingenuously tell us that we have to give them our money and our votes in 2022 to stop the agenda of the President they worked to elect and whose agenda they support far more than they ever supported Trump’s America-First agenda.
