Dan Feltes and NH Democrats Are Not Interested in Restraining Executive Power

This editorial in the Concord Monitor has New Hampshire’s anti-emergency-order activists applauding. But if anyone thinks Democrats are looking to put a dent in executive power or its abuse, I think they are mistaken.

That’s not to say it can’t be leveraged to do that nor am I saying we should not try. But the entire Democrat program turns on a powerful unaccountable executive. Newsom, Cuomo Et al,. The only checks Democrats want are those written to them by people whose “interests” they’ve supported with your tax dollars. The only balance is the one in their campaign coffer getting larger.

We can see that in this editorial.

When you cut through the crap the biggest concern is who spends the “free” money. The rest of it is just posturing, at least by Feltes. Bob Clegg may have other motivations but he was a sponsor of the original enabling legislation we must now come together to address if you believe their rhetoric.

Question?

If this was such a threat to the State why didn’t the Democrat Majority Legisalture, of which Feltes was a majority leader, feel the need to cross the aisles to empower their citizen legislature to prevent this rule by a one-person government under which we find ourselves?

Easy enough answer.

New Hampshire Democrats love the lockdowns, quarantines, and endless government overreach. They want to define who or what is or is not essential, hours and terms of operation, impose restrictions on movement, demand distancing, and levy fines for those who violate their orders or ordinances.

Destroying small businesses to empower corporatist benefactors is at the heart of their economic agenda and the oligarchic upper-class ruling structure they strive to achieve.

Controlling who gets medical attention, when, and in what order is the foundation of policies like ObamaCare.

It’s who they are. So, aside from more whining about who spends what money, there’s not much else you can in all seriousness take away from this editorial.

Yes, for the umpteenth time, the legislature needs to claw back its power –  because it was given in excess and we’d argue unconstitutionally and it is too easy to abuse.

Changes need to be made but I can’t say this enough. Feltes and Democrats are not interested in reigning in executive power.

And while I would love to see these emergency orders rescinded I am very suspicious of the Left’s motivations.

Again, that does not mean we should not try to move votes to rescind the state of emergency. We should. But there’s another shoe here that has yet to drop and we’d be wise to watch out for it.
