Biden Education Secretary is Good With Teaching That America is Intrinsically Racist

by

Joe Biden’s pick for education secretary is Miguel Cardona. He helped create Connecticut’s statewide mandatory minority studies course. It “analyze[s] how race, power, and privilege influence group access to citizenship, civil rights, and economic power.”

That’s called teaching critical race theory. It makes him a leftist and social justice warrior.

Miguel Cardona is Connecticut’s current commissioner of education. He had a key role in the creation of a curriculum for a required course: African-American, Black, Puerto Rican, and Latino studies. Supporters argue the curriculum helps students “consider the scope of African American/Black and Puerto Rican/Latino contributions to U.S. history, society, economy, and culture” and is rooted in “critical race theory,” which claims that America is intrinsically racist.

Are you good with teaching America as intrinsically racist? Connecticut’s state’s commissioner of education is. Joe Biden is. This is educational malpractice being taken nationwide.

Dec. 2 the Connecticut State Board of Education unanimously approved the curriculum for the mandatory course. All students will be required to take it beginning in the fall of 2022. The curriculum is mandatory for all high school students. Many K-8 school systems are also changing their curricula along similar lines.

Hearing Youth Voices (HYV) is the developer of the curriculum along with Cardona. HYV is a Leftist activist group working to integrate “political education and theory” into public schools. The group hosts diversity training sessions.

Among its offerings is one claiming “capitalism is at the root of white supremacy, patriarchy, police brutality, the school-to-prison pipeline and so much more.” Other HYV training courses call for police abolition. They refer to Israel as a police state.

The Anti-Racist Teaching and Learning Collective (ARTLC) also took part in finalizing the curriculum’s instructional materials. The group says the curriculum helps students engage in “anti-racist leadership.”

Cardona is a proponent of requiring identity politics in public education. Identity politics has no educational value. Instead, it has propaganda value. Supporters argue “identities matter” in the context of a child’s education success. The point is they should not. Worse yet, perpetuating what you hope to rid yourself of is counterproductive.

The Connecticut curriculum asks students to “examine the scope and legacy of resistance that has been integral to African American, Black, Latino, and Puerto Rican histories…” It includes readings about the Marxist Black Lives Matter movement.

It also requires all students to ask what the experiences of minorities “reveal about the United States, its foundation, and how power is structured today.” This is not how one teaches critical thinking. What Connecticut is doing is teaching racism. Teaching and promoting racism is evil.

Supporters of Connecticut’s approach teach students individualism, competition, politeness, the scientific method, planning for the future, and the nuclear family are “aspects and assumptions of white culture.” Hopefully, that is not the educational mainstream and it does not become mainstream.

Under Cardona’s leadership, the Biden administration is likely to take American education hard Left. It is heading for indoctrination and propaganda. It is time to decide: What do you want your kids to learn? What is actually going to help them get and hold a good job? Remember what they learn first, they learn best and last the longest.
