Solar is good for Sunbathing and Wind is good for Kite Flying, But Neither is good for Electricity - Granite Grok

Solar is good for Sunbathing and Wind is good for Kite Flying, But Neither is good for Electricity

Wind turbines, wind mills

Climate alarmists promote the Green New Deal and demand that we replace fossil fuels with “free” wind and solar generated electricity.  But wind and solar generated electricity are neither free nor environmentally friendly.  Both are costly and unreliable electric energy sources.  Both require huge amounts of resources that will result in extensive mining in pristine areas.  Both have short productive lives and will be abandoned or overflow our landfills.  Both require back-up generation systems for when the sun and wind don’t generate electricity.

Two short PragerU videos explain this better than I can.

A TEDx program, “Why renewables can’t save the planet”, provides a more detailed explanation of the cost and impact of wind and solar electricity generation.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-yALPEpV4w

Without switching to wind and solar electricity, the US has reduced our CO2 generation more than the signers of the Paris Accords by using our plentiful and cheap natural gas.  Natural gas can continue to provide cheap, reliable, and clean electricity.  But use of natural gas is rejected by the climate alarmists who demand increasing reliance on wind and solar energy despite their limitations, such as the brownouts and blackouts experienced in California.

Nuclear energy could cheaply and reliably provide all our electricity needs but the Climate Alarmists oppose the use of nuclear energy.

The Climate Alarmists and Green New Deal advocates also reject other cheaper and less impactful alternative proposals for addressing the alleged CO2 crisis.

Born Lomborg believes in man-made climate change, but supports the UN’s report that there is reason to act, but no justification for the climate alarmism that demands acting in haste and requiring the surrender of so much of peoples’ incomes and liberties.  Lomborg discusses this in his new book, “False Alarm”, and here:  https://youtu.be/VxWYglbtqnQ

If the concern about the impact to the earth from too much CO2 were real, wouldn’t those concerned care more about getting a practical, cost effective, and workable solution rather than demanding specific, i.e., wind and solar, and rushed solutions?

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Chief of Staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, gave up the game by admitting the Green New Deal was not created to address climate change but to change the whole economy, to advance “social, economic, racial, regional and gender-based justice and equality and cooperative and public ownership.”  In other words the purpose of the Green New Deal is to control the economy so Democrats can use it to buy votes by  redistributing the money we pay in taxes.    (https://news.yahoo.com/aoc-chief-staff-admits-green-124408358.html)

Climate alarmism has little to do with addressing climate change.  Climate alarmism is just a tool used by politicians to scare people into quickly and unthinkingly surrendering their freedoms and hard-earned money  so the politicians can increase their power and enrich themselves and their friends, e.g., Solyndra.
