An important vote is coming this November for the County Commissioner seat. Dan Hansberry, Chairman of the Nashua Board of Assessors, is running for this position. Mr. Hansberry is not qualified and will not represent the county well.

For two years, I have researched the Nashua Assessing Office issues and have attended most Board meetings. I have witnessed first-hand how Ms. Hansberry chairs this board. He shows disdain for public input, typically refusing to provide answers to good questions raised. During the pandemic, Mr. Hansberry made certain his meetings were not accessible for public input despite the fact the most other city meetings allowed dial-in public input. He delayed and stonewalled in opening public access.
He has carried no voice on policy issues and did not have his board participate in a new assessing policy manual review process. The board’s mission statement is to ensure that policies are followed by the office; with Chairman Hansberry unwilling to review and discuss policies, how can the board be sure that the office is following them?
Finally, Chairman Hansberry disregards RSA 76:16 that requires Boards to review abatement applications submitted by property owners that believe their assessments are unfair and unequal. Chairman Hansberry has no regard for the law, policy, or the public.
The County Commissioner seat should have better leadership than Dan Hansberry is capable of providing. Think carefully about your vote for this important seat.
