We get a ton of requests “Who should I vote for”; not just for GraniteGrok but pretty much all of the Groksters. We can’t answer all questions and we give out very few recommendations (this cycle, only two: Steve Negron (NH CD-2) and Karen Testerman (NH Governor). My choices, if it matters?
None of these are made under duress – no one has twisted my arm, made threats, or paid me money; any and all are made of my own volition. (let’s get that legal stuff out of the way).
Notes:
- I’m tired of the constant withdrawal of my Freedoms with Chris Sununu’s constant extension of the Emergency Orders and a complete take-over (and subsequent top-down command economy). He’s assumed the Powers of not just overreach of his normal Executive Powers but that of the Legislature as well in “making law”. Since when did “guidance” (whose normal definition has always been voluntary compliance) to mandatory? Not only that, in the issuance of his guidances, he has made sure to also assume the Powers of the Judiciary in immediate fines / arrests. Thus, Karen Testerman is getting my vote (and GraniteGrok endorsed her as well).
- I am also voting for Matt Mayberry in NH CD-1. We have talked with him at length and there is one area in which I have a big disagreement with him. That said, pretty much most everything is OK. Not quite to the level of giving an endorsement BECAUSE in this area, I have have to worry about his vote.
- It also means that Matt Mowers is NOT getting my vote and much of it stems from these items:
- We had run-ins, he and I, when he was the Exec. Director of the NH GOP after working for NJ Gov. Chris Christie. The NH GOP Delegates had voted on the Platform and made certain things even stronger (like traditional marriage and that abortion was wrong). Unfortunately, the NH GOP Candidates for Gov and US Senate (Walt Havenstein and Scott Brown, respectively) did not support either at all. For WEEKS I demanded that the changes in the Platform be updated – they were not; I was told that there was “no time” as it was then campaign season and there were higher priority issues at hand. I offered to make the changes myself, for free – it was refused. Others, also upset that the NH GOP elite (and in control at HQ) were dissing the rank and file (in the form of Delegates) and were webmaster savvy, made the same offers – they were refused as well. The Platform, while officially updated by duly elected Delegates, was never updated UNTIL AFTER THE GENERAL ELECTION. Go along to get along, I guess, before he went to work for SecState Tillerson whom Trump first appointed and then sacked for not doing what HE was supposed to.
- All of that was duly captured on GraniteGrok if you wish to SEARCH for yourselves. Additionally, both Havenstein and Brown lost – the former because he had dissed the TEA Party and never apologized (still on GraniteGrok) and Brown had no problem in supported “assault weapon” bans while in MA AND boasting that he voted more in line with Democrats the latter time during his time in the US Senate rather than with Republicans (also, still on GraniteGrok).
- His campaign has rolled out LOTS of endorsements. A ton of them. We have a saying here at GraniteGrok: screw DC, save NH. I kept reading all of these endorsements that were mean to impress me. Really? A ton of them were from DC insiders and denizens – part of the problem and NONE of the solution. A veritable catch of swamp creatures. Er, nope.
- Joe Kenney is a good man and served both the US (Lt. Col, US Marines (ret.) and NH (former Exec Councilor) well. It was a shame that the NH GOP hung HIM out to dry when he won the NH Gov. primary – hardly anything was done for him as he wasn’t “The Chosen One” by the NH GOP “Five Families”.
- Glen Aldrich, Harry Bean, Norm Silber for the NH House.
The others will probably get my vote – I say probably as they aren’t contested. Otherwise, I may just do what I’ve done for years – write in Doug Lambert’s name (co-founder of GraniteGrok).
