Joe Biden is on the campaign made a campaign speech designed to attract Muslim votes. On July 20, 2020 during an online event hosted by Emgage Action, he said he thinks Islam should be taught in the school system.
Joe was speaking virtually to the Million Muslims Vote Summit.
Biden said, “I wish we taught more in our schools about the Islamic faith… I wish we talked about all the great confessional faiths. It’s one of the great confessional faiths… [Biden specified that, from a theological standpoint] what we don’t realize is that we all come from the same root here, in terms of our fundamental basic beliefs…”
What do you think? Should teaching Islam be required in public schools? How about Catholicism? Judaism?
Perhaps Biden has a point and religion does belong in school.
He did not say teach Islam at the expense of other religions but he has previously called the separation of church and state as fundamental. So what exactly is he doing here?
If not in schools where?
We could take about the need to repeal of the Blaine Amendment in New Hampshire’s Constitution, but a bigger problem is, which Islam do we teach?
Should we teach the Islam of the Muslim Brotherhood in which they are always the victim?
Or an Islam where we cannot contradict them, reason with them, or debate against them.
These things are not allowed in Islam.
Do we teach Islam from all points of view?
The three most common points of view are: first, from the point of view of the Muslim. Second, from the point of view of the apologist or non-Muslim supportive of Islam. And third, from the point of view of the Kafir, the non-believer who opposes Islam.
Perhaps it is a very good idea to teach all three points of view. In doing so we would be able to learn how to debate issues. This would provide something more than simply accepting an indoctrination run by the Muslim Brotherhood. Is Biden correct? Do we need to teach Islam in schools?
We need to teach how to reason about Islam someplace. If not in schools where?
