The party of government is, of course, Democrats. The more, the merrier – and intrusive. It’s starting to reach that hackneyed level but the Democrat National Committee had it at their 2012 Convention:

Government is the one thing we all belong to.
Yeah, the Right has endless both ridiculed it and are scared by the thought that a lot of their fellow Americans truly believe it – we belong to it (rather than being free Individuals). A complete rejection of the Founder’s visions of a limited Government, Individuals, and a wide and expansive Civil Society acting as a buffer between Government and Individuals. The Democrats, with their tight hold on the above, happily accept the Socialist/Communist view that the only entity should be Government. And the ramifications thereof.
And the Party of Government ensures that it STAYS the Party of Government (reformatted, emphasis mine):
Of CDC employees’ 8,000-plus political donations since 2015, 5 (count ’em) went to Republican causes
Out of more than 8,000 federal contributions from over 550 CDC employees since 2015, only five went to Republican PACs or candidates.Employees at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have made more than 8,000 contributions totaling over $285,000 to Democratic candidates and causes since 2015, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation analysis of political contributions. Only five contributions were sent to a Republican PAC or candidate. Out of these five contributions, which totaled just over $1,000, three sent money to President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign efforts, Federal Election Commission (FEC) records indicate.
The contributions were made by more than 550 people who listed the CDC as their employer on FEC forms. The contributors serve at various levels of management, ranging from nurses and information technology personnel to epidemiologists, public health advisors and the chief financial officer.
Government has become its own Special Interest Group advocating more and more for itself – and realizing that the Democrat Party is absolutely willing to do that. A positive feedback loop in real life.
Frankly, DC based Republicans have brayed long and loud about this – but have done very little about it (just like in the Culture War – they’ve become Switzerland (or, if you prefer, the other Scottish Lords that rode away from the battlefield when William Wallace fought Longshanks. Or, if you prefer, Gov Sununu, aiding them in furthering their social agenda which is yet another positive feedback loop).
