Predictably: Canada Announces “Assault Weapons” Ban after Nova Scotia Mass Shooting

Almost two weeks ago, we reported on the Novia Scotia murderer. They dressed up like a Royal Canadian Mounty, drove a car made to look like it belonged to the police, and killed 22 people. The police believe he got his guns illegally, a problem whose solution (to the liberal mind) is to make those guns illegal.

Justin Trudeau announced that Canada is banning “assault weapons.”

Trudeau acknowledged that “the vast majority of gun owners use them safely, responsibly and with accordance with the law … but you don’t need an AR-15 to bring down a deer.”

The Canadian Prime minister explained the ban, saying, “It is no longer permitted to buy, sell, transport, import or use military-grade assault weapons in this country.”

He added, “To protect law-abiding gun-owners from criminal liability until they can take steps to comply with this new law, there will be a two-year amnesty period and we will legislate fair compensation.”

What Trudeau did not acknowledge, as far as I can tell, is that the “vast majority” of people who shoot other people with firearms, and are not paid to do it by the government, get their guns illegally. And that changing law will probably increase violent crime and murder by all means.

The most violent parts of America, most of them, without even a signal cowboy, have regulated private gun ownership into the realm of impossibility. It is a vanity of the well-off—a trifle for those with the connections and the means. Everyone else is defenseless, and the crime statistics demonstrate that.

More rape, property crime, murder, and assault. Assault with every other sort of weapon. That’s because assault is what you do with it, not what it is.

And this is the part where I point out that I predicted this

Canada’s response will predictably be, to add a few more anti-gun laws.

While you’re at it make it illegal to impersonate an officer. What? You already did that. But he was dressed up as one. How can that be?

Not that it was incredibly prescient of me, it’s just what Liberals do. And there they go just doing it!
