Doubling (or is it Tripling or Quadrupling) Down on Stupid – White Mountain National Forest Trailheads Closed in Order to … Wait for it … Protect Us From Coronavirus

This:

The U.S. Forest Service shut down several White Mountain National Forest trailheads and recreational sites until further notice Friday in an effort to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19.

Forest officials said there recently has been “unseasonably high” numbers of visitors, which could result in the increased chance for exposure to COVID-19.

“Large amount of cars and vehicles in parking areas and groups of people congregating in these parking lots,” said Sherman Hogue, public affairs officer for White Mountain National Forest. “We can only imagine what was going on up the trails as far as people crossing lanes with each other as they’re going in opposite directions.”

There is ZERO scientific evidence that you can catch Coronavirus from walking past someone on a trail. Indeed, there is ZERO scientific evidence that you can catch Coronavirus outdoors. You are actually far safer from Coronavirus outdoors on a trailhead … even a crowded trailhead … than you would be indoors in an “essential” business.

The notion that you can catch Coronavirus by walking within that magical six feet of someone outdoors is total JUNK SCIENCE.

It is within the Governor’s power to end this insanity:

The closures remain in effect until Gov. Chris Sununu lifts his stay-at-home order.
