Klobuchar Calls it Quits – Drops Out to Endorse…Biden

I’m two for two this week. The DNC has pushed another Democrat out of the race. First Buttigieg dropped out and now Klobuchar, right before Super Tuesday.

I actually thought Klobuchar might stick it out until Wednesday, but the party must have gotten to her. They need Biden to compete with Bernie to avoid the prophesied Bernie Ticket down-ballot carnage.

Ms. Klobuchar, despite a strong third-place finish in New Hampshire, lagged her moderate rivals in every other state and was often seen as a candidate siphoning support. Though she had varying levels of support across the Super Tuesday map, polling within reach of leading candidates in some predominantly Republican states with open primaries, but it is unclear how much of a boost any of her rivals will see in the wake of Ms. Klobuchar’s exit, or where she may direct her 7 delegates.

The Times reports that she is throwing her support behind Biden, along with her 7 delegates, not they must vote for whomever she chooses. But Klobuchar is reported to be attending a Biden event this evening so whatever pull she may have left is directed at the guy who is not Bernie.

Nice party strategy. First, they want anyone to win who is not Trump. Then it’s anyone who is not Trump or Bernie Sanders. Now it’s Joe Biden, who may be the worst “safest” candidate in political history.

Keep buying popcorn. The fun doesn’t end until November.
