As the TDS media spins the nation up to destroy President Trump, praise for his response comes from strange quarters. The head of the World Health Organization named Trump and Pence for their leadership. And California Gov. Gavin Newsome also had good things to say.
WHO Secretary-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, “praised President Trump’s approach, noting his appointment of Vice President Mike Pence to lead a broad response to the crisis,” …
“After our visit to Beijing, and seeing China’s approach and President Xi leading that, and also in the U.S., President Trump himself, and also for regular coordination, designating the vice president – these are the approaches we are saying are the right ones.”
The whole government should be mobilized, he said, and the “whole government should mobilize the whole society.
Sound a bit socialist to me. Marxist even. But the point is not that the government does everything but that it provides information and direction. Advice on what to do to limit spread and how to protect the most vulnerable. And an understanding that it is still the flu. It spreads quickly and if it makes enough people sick at the same time, yes, work and productivity will be affected.
In January, the White House had already launched a Task Force for addressing the risk presented by the coronavirus. There is a 52-page plan being deployed by the CDC. And they’ve been following it. Which has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated by California Governor Gavin Newsome who is, himself, showing some leadership by focusing on the plan and the problem instead of using this for petty political stunts
California Gov. Newsom had kind words for Pres. Trump and Vice Pres. Pence when asked about the administration's handling of coronavirus and cruise ships:

The Governor and President had a very long conversation, and the President has followed through on everything. That’s hard to beat.
This is not to say there have not been plenty of petty political stunts. We have a major election coming up. Many find it impossible to restrain themselves not the least of them being our partisan liberal media. They are trying to expand their market share, tank the economy, and scare people into a panic.
But there was nary a sound about Swine Flu in 2009 -2010 (I think Obama said he inherited that).
As of mid-March 2010, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimated that about 59 million Americans contracted the H1N1 virus, 265,000 were hospitalized as a result, and 12,000 died.”
- 59 million infected.
- 265,000 hospitalized.
- 12,000 died.
Today’s media scaremongering is not unusual but given their commitment to destroying Trump, this stinks of political opportunism. And it’s dangerous. As Dr. Drew said the fearmongering is a bigger threat than the actual virus and it needs to stop. He suggests that the media need to be held accountable. I’m not clear what he thinks that looks like but to my mind it is up to the public to do the latter. By choosing to shut them off or seek alternatives.
The US is currently way ahead of the curve on preparedness and the numbers show that. It’s a message that needs to be shared far and wide.
We have always had a plan, it is being followed, and it is effective. And remember to direct all the center-left and media politicization to Congresswoman Ann Kuster’s office because she’s the one who said, “now is not the time to play politics.”
